Some funny reactions. At the minute Riewoldt is probably the best player in the competition.

Browns best is unbelievable and him being fully fit in 2010 is a scary thought.

I seriously can't split them so I won't vote. Alot closer than people are making out.

Immature and a no knowledge answer, i dont post on here much but i just feel the need to, it makes me laugh especially about a post on page 1, about Riewoldt not a prolific goal kicker. People on here make a statement without knowing jack shit, Half of the people on are jealous and if you say you wouldnt want him in your team thats fine but i bet you your coaches and players would love to have him or brown for that matter.

People do know 'jack shit' - and they are jealous of what Riewoldt's 'achievements'? - for all the talk of him being the best player in the league, he has very little to show for it, being contribution towards team success when it matters the most.

If Brown was playing in VIC, Riewoldt wouldn't be even mentioned in the same league as him. Brown stands up for his team when needed, ask everyone and majority of people who state Brown as the better leader. Thats what my 'immature' and 'no knowledge' 'answer' stated.

The "prolific goalscorer" argument isn't really valid. Roo averages 2.2 goals a game while JB averages 2.3. Roo has 9 marks a match while JB has 8. Both average 16 disposals.

Yeah those 5 goals in his teams 3 premierships were instrumental in them winning and not the efforts of Voss, Akermanis, Black & Co. Clown.

He kicked them when his team really needed them - he didn't miss the goal and blame it on possible injuries he was carrying.

In 2001, a 19 yr old Brown kicked goals from the boundary line at important stages of the game, one to put the Lions in front in 3 qtr time.

2002, kicked another pressure goal from boundary line when the Pies were looking to get on top.

2003, came back strongly after being pole-axed by Burns in the first qtr and kicked 2 goals.

They weren't the only thing that won us our premierships but they went a long way towards contributing towards eventual success later on in those particular days.

Riewoldt has 4 AA selections, 5 B&Fs and an AFL MVP to show for it. He also played a major part in us making a grand final last year, was probably BOG in our finals against Collingwood and the Bulldogs. So to say he hasn't made a contribution towards team success when it matters the most is complete rubbish.

That makes no sense, do you really think people would rate Brown or Riewoldt any differently if Brown was playing in Victoria? Both Brown and Riewoldt are viewed as champion forwards regardless of where they play.

Riewoldt also stands up for his team when needed and is a great leader like Brown. Why do you think Riewoldt was made AA captain last year? It's because he was judged as the best captain/leader in the competition last year.

Why do you think Riewoldt was made AA captain last year?

No its because most of the AA selectors are Victorian and also they havent watch enough interstate teams play. It shows how much they know when they picked Leon Davis and Dane in Forward Flank when Mark Lecras and Jason Porplyzia kicked over 50 goals last year. I never knew you played in the forward line to get 40 touches

I didn't see enough of them in the first few years of their careers, but over the last 3 years I think Riewoldt has performed better.

Brown has been better over the last 3. That's not even up for debate, to be honest.

Brown won a Coleman from CHF ffs.

vic bias has nothing to do with it. explain why goodwin and bolton got in on the half back line when they were much better players from victorian clubs?

nick riewoldt was the standout captain last year and along with ablett the standout player, there is no denying it.

Personally I am very happy to have just one of them in my team. I would take Brown just over Riewoldt, primarily for the fact that he has better skills and kicks more goals although they do play slightly different roles. The difference between them is almost negligible though.

I also think that if Brown played for a team like Collingwood then he would be rated higher. Also Roo has been playing in a better team since 2005, which should be taken into consideration, although Brisbane are closing ...

ffs, of course it is. I hate reading crap when people say 'it isn't even close' when arguing, when quite clearly Brown and Riewoldt have both been outstanding recently.

Brown has been a class above since he got fit circa 2007.

Riewoldt's only argument exists because of his consistency over his career.

Over the last 3 seasons it's been a domination by Brown.

It has been a domination by Riewoldt as well. Even you agreed that he was the best player in the comp last year (I think?).
Nothing wrong with saying Brown is better it's just saying it's not up for debate which is wrong.

My opinion was that he was the best player in 2009. Brown was the best in 2007, and Brown was better in 2008.

Name me one player that was better them

prestigiacomo, gilbert, goddard (shouldn't have been on the bench), harvgrave, davey to name a couple.

Nick Maxwell's the player who should've made way. Don't blame those interstaters.

and riewoldt was clearly better in 08, hence why he was all australian chf and brown was not

Maxwell better than Gilbert in 2009 then? You just spent all those keystrokes arguing that Goddard/Gilbert should've been AA last year, then you use AA selection as proof that one player was better than the other.

You're contradicting yourself.

Stupid thread this, Brown is one of the great CHF's of the game there is no comparison. We are lucky to be seeing him play, a nice bloke too, humble and down to earth.
