Brownlow Medal 2013

How can you not even include a medal winner (Malceski) in your votes?

umpires have shown in the past that winning a match day medal doesnt always stick in their minds. kennedy's clearance work and the goals are the type of thing theyve rewarded in the past. hannebery's second half was massive and mcveigh under their eye all day. in saying that, yeah, could easily make a case for malceski there too,

I've just had a quick look back through a bunch of the showdown games from the last 2 years and I can't find any examples where a medal winner hasn't polled. In fact I can only find two examples where the winner hasn't polled 3 votes (Dean Cox got 2 in one of the derbys and Justin Westhoff got a single in 2011).

sportingbet have some new brownlow markets up at the moment

gaz over under 34.5 votes @ 1.90

most people seem to have gaz 20-25 already with games against carlton H, wc A, melb H, port A, stk A and gws H. except injury over 34.5 looks good

excact number of votes for gaz. range from $7 to $17

most votes without gaz (suspended players included)
pendles/hannebery $6
selwood $6.50
barlow $7.50 (I like this)

Logjam in second position by my count after Round 18.

25 - Ablett
20 - Pendlebury, Hanneberry, Selwood, Jack
18 - Boak
17 - Watson, Griffen, Swan
16 - Johnson, Hodge, Fyfe
14 - Mitchell, Barlow
13 - McVeigh
12 - Dangerfield, Deledio, Roughead, Cotchin, Harvey
11 - Murphy, Priddis, Sloane, Martin, Hartlett
10 - Mundy, Liberatore
9 - A Swallow, S Selwood, JP Kennedy, O'Keefe, Rockliff

Ablett got it sealed, Pendlebury right up his a$$, Hannebery will up there a good year by Griffen.. Would win it if he was in a better side, Selwood/Jack also there. Smokey bet would be Hannebery or Pendles but no use putting much on because Gazza I think has it in the bag if there is no problems.

My Leaderboard after round 18:

24- Ablett
20- Jack
19- Pendlebury
19- Hannebery
18- Watson
17- J. Selwood
17- Swan
16- Boak
16- Dangerfield
16- Griffen
16- S. Johnson
16- Mitchell

Joel selwood is the one that i really think is being underrated by many, including the bookies - some have him at $15 or above.

proven votegetter in the past; in a dominant team again this year; has kicked more goals already this season than any other season in total; on track for more "frees for" than any other season (suggesting the umpires are still noticing him). the only knock on him is a slightly lower disposal average than in past years, plus the likes of stevie j, stokes and christensen more visible also this year.

His constant whining at all the quarter breaks is sure to win him a few friends too...

What if I could get 400/1 though, each way?

Tell you what, I wouldn't be getting on Gaz @ $1.50 on this stage. Way too short considering in my count, I have him on 25 with the chasing pack on 22, 21 and 20..

Who would those 3 chasing be?

Ablett has games against Melbourne, Port, Stk & GWS. They will win at least 2 of those games, none of those teams have a decent tagger (Jones is OK for Stk but he smashed us in Round 1)
