how good was it to see a big man, play like a big man. Leaping at the ball and using his size to advantage.

Teakle is a very different style of player to Hayes. He's not a Hayes replacement. What he has done though is make Lycett obsolete. I don't see anything Lycett can do that Teakle can't do just as well.

Agree, I'm hoping he can develop into a good enough forward to play as the 3rd KPF/2nd ruck. He looks to have those sort of attributes. I still want Hayes as first ruck.

A very small sample size but...

Ladhams > Teakle plus a pick upgrade is looking like good work by the trade team
Agree with the outcome, but this isn't exactly what happened though. I'd give them this credit if they'd picked Teakle up in the off-season.

Instead it's Ladhams > a pick upgrade, followed by no replacement for him for half the season, followed by being lucky that there was a player of Teakle's quality available and not selected before our pick in the mid-season draft.

The prospect of a side with Hayes, Teakle and Visentini sharing ruck duties is a tantalising one, we have a good core of players that haven’t had a chance to shine yet and Brynn’s debut looked awesome pre-injury which has me very excited to see what other players can do too.

We swapped out Ladhams for Finlayson as the fwd/ruck, which was a clear win because Ladhams can't play forward at all.

As it turns out, Finlayson is also better in the centre square.

Yeah I'm coming around to this way of looking at it and being content with the move. Finlayson is proving to be an astute pick up, even if he did fall into our laps due to circumstances.

Still would like to see Pisty succeed. There's something about him that I really like. I think it's because he gives a shit.

You know we are going shit as a football club when everyone rushes to over rate a mid season pick up off 5 touches. Everyone desperate to cling to something positive, he might be alright who knows at this stage though. Everythings different when you've done a whole season on an AFL list with everyone else you're against but am worried the expectations are through the roof now for him that he won't possibly be able to match (at least anytime soon).

Toby Thurstans gives Teakle his jumper.
Always love seeing the guernsey presentations but the best thing for me, in this clip, is seeing Stuey Cochrane up and about again. I haven’t seen him in any club clips this year (but that’s not to say he hasn’t)

I can't see him properly m8?
That's great news I've been really concerned as we had the exact same diagnosis and meet him and had been in touch but hadn't heard anything for a while.

Right at the beginning of the clip he moves behind Toby

I agree with part of your sentiment ... basically the year is screwed after the 0/5 start. So I can get all riled up each week over Stinkley, Koch & CO's weekly eroding this great this club ... OR, I can look to the future analysing the micro factors - Individual players & their progress. I do that with the Maggies each week too. Sure I want them to win, but know that we will never truly be a successful club again until Koch and Ken are gone, and we get Port out of the SANFL forever.

PS I also vehemently disagree with your synopsis of Teakle's debut. That was as good as it gets, all the more so considering he had no AFL preseason, and only had about four training sessions with the boys. He has ZERO expectations on him, that was the beauty of it.

Best 35 minutes of my life :D

“I got a lot of messages from a lot of the fans when I was in hospital,” he said.

“I couldn’t really sleep so I was up all night reading them all, which was really nice.

“The Port fans are amazing. At the game as well, when I was walking off, they were all cheering and clapping me so it was pretty special to get that response from the crowd already.

“I definitely want to try and push for another game but I’ll see how the recovery goes and how quickly the bone heals.”
