Teaks is physically and athletically elite level.
Comes down to whether he has the skillset, the determination, and the craft to be either a KPF, KPD or a ruckman.
He also seems to have the mongrel which is a big plus for a big guy.

So could he play as that tall back? Like Frampton, McEvoy, Cox? Or is he too weak through the core - get rag dolled by the Hawkins style forwards?
Teakle played his first SANFL game as a defender. There were 2 clear score involvements from his mistakes. The first was a hand ball back into the corridor allowing the crows player to have an easy shot on goal and another being taping the ball back into play rather than taking the ball to the boundary.
Definitely liking the idea but needs to learn and gain the experience. Physically he can play the KPD role but needs the knowledge and experience.
End of the day we have nothing to lose training and playing him as a KPD

I only saw a half of the game but I didn't mind what I saw of him in defence. Couple of forgettable moments as mentioned above, but he did attack the ball coming in and he is tall and mobile. He can play with a bit of abandon, hopefully that doesn't get coached out of him.

Pretty much sums up my take on him too. The thing I see in him is that imo he is, and will be, much better that Frampton in defence. He has more attitude and hunger. It's a good move to try develop him there.

I hope they keep playing him down back he was ok at times, his biggest mistakes were as Timmy G pointed out bringing the loose ball blindly back in open territory instead of keeping it boundary side.

Nothing that can't be fixed by playing there for a solid block of games. we really don't need another average forward/ruck so dig into it Brynn.

Frustrating the club left it this long, should have been training all preseason in defence and should have played both preseason games in defence.

The club is actually playing Teakle as a defender? I thought he was our best ruck prospect that was only kept out of the team by the fact that Lycett was flying.

I agree trying Teakle at centre half back is a good idea , watching Frampton play and do ok from Collingwood as a failed forward/ruck I get the notion Teakle could possibly do similar , he’s reasonably athletic, a reasonable mark and has the height

Yes he played down back last week.

I have rewatched the match. Teakle's game was much better than what I thought, and a hell of a lot better than many of the knockers here are saying!

Yes Marshall beat him, but he wasnt useless as some are saying. He competed well in the ruck, and was involved in quite a few general plays. Nice one below that leads to a goal. He follows the action after the ruck contest, and stays involved, keeping in front of Marshall, who is unable to impact on the play.

After rewatching the game, I have changed my mind & feel he is worth persisting with.

Has been a weird ride. Has basically no exposed form in WAFL/SANFL football. Had played <20 games of WAFL when he was drafted. Hasn't played first ruck at all in the SANFL and looked terrible in defence. Was good in the game he broke his collar bone. Think he has been good enough in these 2 games, but was absolutely terrible in the game late last year. I'm annoyed Hayes hasn't been given a run and Ladhams is elsewhere (who is similar to Teakle but better), but someone has to play ruck. I reckon he's been better than Lycett so should probably get a bit more of a run.
