Buckley can't coach

So basically you are saying that you agree with me.

Cheers.

But you decide to play the man rather than the issue. Shame. You have the chance to be someone who can debate issues rationally but you chose to call people names like you are in the school yard. That is the real problem with the internet though isn't it.

I remember we started 5-4 in our premiership year of 2010. We are likely to start that way again this year. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

I love the way that anyone who you don't like is a troll.

That is kindergarten stuff tbh. Which is what the Collingwood Big Footy site has become.

I saw Swanny on Tuesday at the Thommo clinic and could not believe how "big" he looked. If he is not still a couple of weeks of peak fitness I will eat my hat. This doesn't stop him getting the ball but might explain why he looks so knackered when he kicks after a long run.

Glaring weaknesses in our game plan (especially our defensive transition, and kick and hope through the corridor), but these can be tightened up and clarified over time. I don't think we've been any worse than the Cats were early last year. They were able to paper over the cracks early with close wins, but they weren't playing well.

In terms of playing attractive footy, this was a tougher game than last week. The Tigers were playing a Saints like style out of defense and simply looking to hold onto the ball. It didn't really work for them, so we didn't need to prevent it, but it did take a bit of air out of the game.

The turnovers, the intercepted kicks, the poor tackling all need a lot of work.

This is where Buckley, Harvey and Eade need to start showing us (Paid up Collingwood members since 1972) that they can coach.

I have no issue with the point your trying to get across because as you said I do actually agree with you in some regards and I agreed with plenty of what you posted on our board as well. The issue I have is your method of delivery which is very full on and it's the reason why there was such a backlash on our board.

Make your point in a constructive manner and people will respect your posting. Jumping on the main board, with a provocative thread title and ranting at midnight (after a win no less) only invites trouble.

I hardly called you names if anything the poster that should feel hard done by is starchamber. If you feel that I'm out of line with my comments there is a report post button.

Finally we didn't start 2010 with a 5-4 record we only recorded 4 losses for the year of which the fourth came in round 22.

Blessed how about you put up your own opinions instead of copying and pasting the opinions of supporters on the Pies board. I hope you don't come back to the Collingwood board because we don't need you.

Hope you guys enjoy his crappy threads on the main board.

Collingwoods non misses were far better. They won because they kicked seven straight goals when the game needed to be broken open.

That's right you did. Watching Richmond waste shot after shot from very gettable spots was always going to hurt them. In the end even in there little run Miller and Vickory missed simple shots not snaps or outside fifty but 30 out.

A miss is a miss, why would richmonds be "far worse"

Only that they where in such gettable positions. Richmond where never going to win but they worked so hard to get there forwards the ball in good spots only to see them miss. Fair enough if they where snaps or low percentage shots but Richmond let themselves down.

Richmond only missed two "easy" set shots. The rest of their misses were under pressure.

There is a good Chance Cats will lose tomorrow and be 0-2.. and all the nay sayers will come out and tell us how old and slow we are.... no thread though from Cats supporters whinging I bet...

It's round 2 ffs....

Ya know what Alka, you may be right. But I may need someone to wake me up when the game ends. Our strategy to get the ball off the Tigers was to hope they made an unforced error rather than forcing them to make one. I'm normally a pretty positive person & I have no doubt gone too hard too early. But uncontested footy is a personal hate of mine. I hate watching it. I'm not having a crack at the players because they were playing the way they were told. I just hated what was dished up from both teams last night. I hope it isn't a sign of things to come for 2012.

Dawes is struggling because he's been asked to do too much IMO. Go back, go forward, contest in the ruck. Nope, he's a lead up forward who can kick a goal or three, that's all. One trick pony. The problem with Dawes is he goes for marks with his fingers facing straight up and almost like he is trying to palm the ball down rather than closing his hands around the ball like Cloke does, its shocking to watch and you gotta wonder why he is even still playing if he cant do such a vital skill for a player.

Dawes needs to get back to Auskick and be taught how to mark the footy. He is not a one grab mark, but tries to take the speed out of the ball and hope for it to drop onto his chest. The problem wit this is that the defender is right there to spoil.

Prove me wrong Bucks.

so we hit the lead in the last qtr against the flag faves in Hawthorn with 8-9 players missing before going down and then defeat Richmond and you have come to the conclusion Bucks cant coached and the Pies are gone........
New game plan, injury interrupted preseason and players missing and you come up with this? well done.
Didnt Richmond get to within a goal in the last qtr of Carlton last week before dying off?

Take a deep breath, its the end of round 2.

Where is the leadership at Collingwood?

I am saying it already.

We are gone!

Non existent.

Don't wanna sound negative but if we continue to put up performances like that we wont make the top 4. We have some star players but also some absolute duds. God forbid if we got a couple of injuries to our gun players. We'd be lucky to make the eight if that happened.

Buckley is really showing his lack of nous.

The change from Malthouse to Buckley has hurt the whole Collingwood empire.

Buckley has shown nothing yet.

Rob Harvey can't coach.

Just cause you were a great player. doesn't mean you can coach. Infact, sometimes it is the exact opposite.

The whole team shows no discipline.

Our coaching staff are all rookies or blokes like Eade who are only in it for the retirement money.

Basically we took our form from last years finals into this year. People were saying after our NAB cup effort to ignore it and only comment once the real season starts.

Well, 2 weeks into the season and we are nowhere near a threat this year.

I simply cant believe our ball movement this year compared to last!!

Apart from Pendles and a couple of the younger guys; our squad looked disinterested!!.

Hopefully it was a one off.

We played 6 minutes of football.

Correct! 6 minutes of football. We developed that lazy habit as season 2011 progressed. By the time Round 24 rolled around Geelong smashed us. We haven't been the same since.

Season 2012 Top Four: Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Carlton, West Coast. Five into four won't go.

Question: Which team is the odd one out? After today's annihilation in Perth, West Coast is now an absolute monty for top four with all their home games.

Very uninspiring win. Hopefully, we are just pacing ourselves, but at the moment, we look like a 5-8 side, rather than top 4.

Disposal is woeful, and kickouts are a raffle.

We have lost the desperation that we have had in the past.

We miss Leon Daivs. We have no pace. Watch Garlett next week and you will know.

Our kick outs are appalling.

Sidebottom hardly tries. I know he is laconic but geez.

Daisy Thomas played 5 minutes of footy.

Without Maxwell out there, the backline has no one to lead them.

We can't kick goals and Dawes seems lost as he is no ruckman and not now a forward.

Swan seems to have lost a yard and now he has signed the big contract, doesn't care any more.

He must have turned it over 10 times tonight.

Without Pendlebury - we would be lost.

The Pies, without any leadership.

Sinclair would have to be the worst player to get a game in perhaps 10 years. The only thing you can be sure of when he gets his hands on the ball is, that the opposition will have it soon after. Julian Rowe and Ben Davies can consider themselves unlucky in comparison.

Would be nice if some senior players could find it in their overpaid hearts to string together 4 quarters next week, even if we lose.

Robert Walls on SEN, comes out with "right now, I reckon Judd and Murphy are the two most elite and best midfielders in the League "

He could be right!

All the five sides (Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, Carlton and West Coast) currently in the mix for a top four finish have great midfields.

The question is what we can get out of our defense and forwards that will swing the scales in our favour. Right now, I am doubtful we can displace the other four sides.

I don't often agree with Robert Walls, but Carlton and West Coast have as much of a chance of the flag this year as Geelong and Hawthorn.

We don't I'm afraid. Our injury toll mounts from tonight and our kids aren't up to it.

We will be smashed by the Blues on Friday night.

Nah you don't sound negative at all... Well done champ

Dawes is struggling because he's been asked to do too much IMO. Go back, go forward, contest in the ruck. Nope, he's a lead up forward who can kick a goal or three, that's all. One trick pony

With Wood injured in the preseason and Ceglar and Witts nowhere near ready for senior football the choice was made to use Dawes as the second ruck. I hope its not a permenant feature but it does no harm for Dawes to learn another role. Who knows when we might need him to play ruck down the track if Jolly gets injured during the game.

Hopefully Wood will return soon for games agaisnt teams with two quality rucks....eg next week.

Yes it was an ugly game...mostly due to the excellent defensive zoning Collingwood placed on Richmond. LAst weeks game was an absolute belter though. Not all games are pretty to watch.

B-Jack for your opinion I have been a Collingwqood member since 1972.

You are a fly by night compared to me. You are some teenager or 20 something. So sit back - listen and learn!!!!

Show respect to your elders and those who have seen the same thing happen at Collingwood in Ray Gabbich's time, Tuddys time, Peter McKenna's time, Len Thompson's time, Bob Rose's time, Peter Moore's time, Hafey's time and Jack Cahills time.

It is all the same and it is happening again.

We self destruct at Collingwood.

That is what we do!!

.

Don't have a go at him because he's not a miserable fifty year old man!!

It's round two for gods sake!! We were always going to have a slow start because we needed to adjust our game plan. The game plan that won us a premiership two years ago has been well and truly worked out. We were predictable!!

We self destruct because of people like you!!

Glad it's not just the collingwood board that are putting up with young crap now!!!

And for the record I saw swan on Friday and he's looking fine.

I'm not gonna lie, it doesnt look great right now.

But if we get some players back, and hopefully they get use to whatever new plan Bucks is implementing. Much like it took until the West Coast game in 2010 to really get going.

Remember we looked horrible at the start of 2010. Lost to Saints, should have lost to Melbourne, lost to Cats and Lions all by Round 9.

I think its too early to call whether or not he is a good coach. But my gut feeling is that he's not a very good coach.

Fremantle's loss wasn't terrible.

I think it's too early to tell for Collingwood. But it was interesting that they played a bottom eight team with a very young list, who kicked 2.10 in a half, and had many players have average games (Martin, Riewoldt, Vickery, Cotchin was a bit quiet on recent standards), yet only won by 21 points and only pulled away in the third quarter. It seems like Collingwood didn't capitalise on a rather poor performance by Richmond, and performed rather poorly themselves.

People on here need to stop the messiah talk.

Nathan Buckley is now a coach , no different to all the others, he does bring a huge career that was unique.

But Nathan Buckley's playing career wont win a flag, nor his disposal rate as a player.

What will is his knowledge of the game, and the 22 players on game day.

This list has potential but I hope the coach is thinking differently to most people here who are looking for someone to player the Leigh Brown and Leon Davis role.

Why is he trying to slot Dawes in as Leigh Brown and not making the most of Dawes as a power forward?

No one has answered that question.

I want Chris Dawes to play the Chris Dawes role and kick goals!!!

I want Cameron Wood to play the Cam Wood role or Ceglar to play the Ceglar role.

If we stuck trying to play the role of 2010-11 players, then we will not with the premiership. Instead, we'll fall quickly down the ladder.

Not a good call on the title of the thread. Two games in and all, give him a go, he is really in a hard position following on after MM. The poster "Blessed", calls for debate on the subject but launches the "discussion" with a highly emotive post, which really is not debatable. The attitude that went with the post was highly over the top and thus caused all and sundry from Coll supporters to respond. Me thinks that was the reason for it. This was mentioned by a previous poster. By the way "Blessed" just because you have followed a team for all eternity does not make way for instant respect, that is earned, you certainly are very arrogant with this idea.

Another point the top four are not set in stone and the arrogance shown by those club supporters after round 2 is amazing. At this stage there is no premiership favourite or certain top four contenders. Get to round 15 or 16 and then you can call it. Long long season and some of you have it all done and dusted.
