I think when Buckley was in his prime he was a more damaging player than Crawford, but that's not taking another away from the Hawk superstar. I just feel as though you'd fear the ball being in Buckley's hands more than if it was with Crawf.

Cindy is a fair way off. Only Hawks lovers and Collingwood haters would vote Crawf.

A long way off .. what a load of crap. Get real pal, Crawford is a champion, and it's about time people started to rate him for what he is, and stop elevating players like Buckley and Voss into super-stardom, as if they were miles ahead of the others. It's just pure garbage.

You're biased mate. Buckley easily has Crawford covered as a player.

Crawf held together a mediocre football team for a long time during his prime, so we probably never got realise how unbelievably good he was because he had shit-kickers around him.

Buckley was more workmanlike and Crawf was more flair so I wouldn't compare them. Both great footballers though

Um, Buckley played in a final in his first year at the pies - 1994 and didn't play in another one until 2002 - he played in his fair share of crap sides and held the team together more than anyone...

I can't say either way.. I don't remember either for the first half of their careers.

It's odd how time diminishes the memories of how great a player once was though. Crawf probably peaked earlier, obviously.. winning the Brownlow in '99 and Buckley in 2003.

Perhaps Buckley was more consistent in the back half of his career.

Buckley when at his best but Crawf ain't that far behind him, because he has a premiership medal, something which Buckley failed to get.

Both are fantastic footballers. Buckley just did it a little better more often.

People forget how great crawford was, and his off field antics took away from his on field talent.

How good buckley was is brainwashed via the media.

Anyone care to detail Crawford's shortcomings by comparison?

Crawford ahs probably tailed off a little bit in the last couple of years - but I rate him much more highly. Whilst Buckley was extremely good with his disposal and got a lot of the ball - much of that was on the half-back flank. IMO Nathan Buckley was a very good player - but definately not in the league of the other two he is compared to - Voss and Hird. Most AFL players who are asked that question in a newspaper/radio/television say Voss or Hird...
