Burgoyne fractured jaw - 2 weeks away

If it was not for bad luck we would have no luck at all, hopefully we won't need him against Norf.
There is a real sense that everything will be okay now because we are "only" playing North and like. That is utter rubbish. They are a bogey side of ours, and there is absolutely nothing in our last three weeks to suggest we will win this game.

We have let two winnable games slide because we couldn't hold onto a lead. We were smashed by a pretty average side it must be said, because they put us under pressure. Don't for one minute think that Franklin would have been the difference because he's on another planet at the moment. Maybe his contract renewal is getting to him, who knows.

Our next 18 rounds will be just as hard, if not harder than the past 4. The more we lose, the more pressure the team will have on them. If there is anything that we cannot hack at the moment, it's pressure.

Its a fracture under the tooth site
Doesnt mean his jaw is hanging off
Might just be a little crack in the skiny bone near his tooth
I.e. a bad tooth ache

Just wait and see, before we predict the sky is falling.

Oh god, this is all really starting to deflate me. We need to win 3 of the next 4 IMO to set us up for a big 2nd half of the season. WE CANNOT LOSE TO ESSENDON, THIS GAME IS A MUST WIN FOR PRIDE!

Treat a toothache by using table salt - Put plain table salt directly in and around the bad tooth. It will sting for awhile but will subside and take the pain away instantly.

Treat a toothache using olive oil - This remedy does not have a solution that you actually put on your tooth. Instead, warm up about 5ml of olive oil. Make sure it is just warm and not hot. Put the warm oil into the ear of the side the toothache is on and you will notice the toothache subside

Why? He had far more chance with the added intensity of the game and the fact we lost 3 mids through the game that he would have done him hammy again - quite frankly it is impossible to foresee he was going to end up with a broken jaw.

So don't try to act smart after the event!

What does his waist have to do with it? I'm sure that didn't contribute to the injury.

Guess they don't call him 'Burger' for nothing then ;)

Strangely, my man on the ground who spoke to Burgoyne and his wife after the game yesterday said he was speaking fine, and only had a slightly split lip. He had recieved a knock but went back on in the last.

The fact he also did not mention any severe pain or injury, suggests this is more of an instance of due diligence(scan) that has picked up a minor fracture.

My info is that it's a hairline fracture.

How many weeks did Colin Sylvia miss? Cause he had a broken jaw (pretty bad one) and he had to have a few teeth out apparently, from the damage caused by Kennedy's elbow/shoulder/whatever is was.

Surely, if it's just a small crack and some tooth soreness, he can take a couple of Nurofen and play. ;)

There is a big difference between a badly broken jaw (8 weeks +) and a slightly fractured jaw. I believe bougoynes is described as a hairline fracture which thankfully is at the lower end of the scale.

By the sounds of it 2 weeks which is how the club is describing it seems about right.

not good :(

['FRACTURED JAW
Temporarily bandaging the jaw (around the top of the head) to prevent it from moving may help reduce pain.
The specific treatment for a fractured jaw depends on how badly the bone is broken. If you have a minor fracture, you may only need pain medicines and to follow a soft or liquid diet for a while.
Surgery is often needed for moderate to severe fractures. The jaw may be wired to the teeth of the opposite jaw to improve stability. Jaw wires are usually left in place for 6 - 8 weeks. Small rubber bands (elastics) are used to hold the teeth together. After a few weeks, some of the elastics are removed to allow motion and reduce joint stiffness.
If the jaw is wired, you can only drink liquids or eat very soft foods. Have blunt scissors readily available to cut the elastics in the event of vomiting or choking. If the wires must be cut, consult a health care provider promptly so they can be replaced.']

Oh well, at least our shocking injury list has one positive, the Kangas won't have the added incentive of sticking it up Gibbo as he won't be out there this weekend!:D

I've fractured my jaw on two occasions in my life. One was quite severe, but because if the freak nature of the break (a Parade Ground Fracture) it didn't require wiring, but I was out of action for over a month, let alone doing anything remotely physical.

The other time was two hairline fractures and that was a big box of 'happy pills' and a lightly modified diet for about a week.

At loathe to diagnose Shaun's condition but since he was talking freely etc, I'd reckon he's on the less severe end of the spectrum. In any case, it's not a pleasant thing to have.

Damnit grizz, you quoted me while I was changing 'break' to 'fracture', you swift fella.

News of this travelled pretty fast.....interesting that it wasn't able to be kept under wraps.

You know me G-man, I've got more sources than Gordon Ramsay.
