Re: Burgoyne WILL be a Hawk, guaranteed!

Not too sure there Couch...

But I am really hoping we use one of those picks to get Michael Coad from Sturt, the Key Position Defender.

Would be great back up in defence.

Probably wouldn't hurt to think outside the square and the hawks have been quite good at it ie. Dew and port did okay with that 21 year old last year (can't remember his name).

Just hate the fact that trade week for the hawks appears to have once again hit a brick wall.

You'd probably also be interested in James Mieklejohn from the PAMFC to add to your ruck divison.

I don't know much about him, TBH, cept that Port showed interest in picking him up last year. He was drafted by Syndey a few years back, delisted, and is now killing it in the SANFL.

We took Jason Davenport (now 23) with our last pick in the national draft last year pick #78 after Geelong delisted him. He had just won Geelong VFL best and fairest so he was hardly a spud and definitely worth another shot
Its not the first time we have done that... David Rodan was drafted at #86 after being delisted from Richmond... and well we all know how that turned out
We also took Josh Mahoney out of the VFL and he went on to become one of our best forwards during our premiership year

these all did very well with Port once he was given the opportunity

Coad doesnt look too bad to be honest. Might be worth a punt although he has had quite a few injuries over his career
i see alot of merit in giving guys a lifeline... and port have done very well in this department

Their saying on SEN that Williams will go to Essendon for pick 26.

Therefore we give 9 and 26 for Burgoyne to Port.

Will be announced in the morning.

Lets hope this ones true.

Re: Burgoyne WILL be a Hawk, guaranteed!

Williams won't get 16 on his own.

After all, he's only a one-time AA, who's nearly 27 and recovering from knee surgery this season - and has been on the decline since 2006.

....hang on a second. ;)

Seriously though, you'd need to throw something Essendon's way to swing it. Do port have a 2nd round pick?

Williams and 9 a little too steep for Burgoyne - hope there is something coming back our way.

Still think:

Williams, #8 and #40 to Essendon, Burgoyne and #24 to Hawks, #9, #10 and #16 to Power is the fairest offer all around.

Nah, he was pretty good last year :p
Happy if we get him for 26 as reported, think it's under the odds if he's fit.

Wouldn't be happy giving up 16 + 26 for Williams + 40 though (10-8 isn't enough to make it worthwhile), though if he can get some form back, he'd certainly be worth it. Still, won't happen.

Seems to favour the Power a little too much for my liking.

I think this is fairer.

HAWTHORN'S desperation for Port Adelaide's Shaun Burgoyne took it into dangerous territory yesterday during trade week.

By mid-morning the airwaves and websites were abuzz with the staggering news that Campbell Brown may become part of the Burgoyne deal.

So did Hawthorn offer Brown or Port request him? The mail is that Port let the cat out of the bag by saying his name was on the table.

Hawthorn President Jeff Kennett reacted angrily to that claim: ``Campbell Brown's future lies with Hawthorn and to say we offered him up is absolutely incorrect.

``To say that we offered up any Premiership players is absolutely incorrect. Campbell Brown will continue to put his body on the line for Hawthorn.

Why do port need more to get this deal done?

Who is offering more than us?

Forget including Williams in a 3-way. It's not necessary.

Exactly. Just tell Port we will be using pick 9 to secure Burgoyne, either through trading with them or in the ND. If we get trumped for him in the ND (which I doubt we would) then, meh. We then take a top-10 18yo. I'll be unhappy with pick 9 + anyone. He's not worth it.

Connors slams Port's culture

SEN | EXCLUSIVE: AFL Player Manager Paul Connors has slammed Port Adelaide, declaring no player would choose to play for that club.:D
After a turbulent year on and off the field, the culture at Port has come under scrutiny.
The departure of vice-captain Shaun Burgoyne has raised questions about Port, along with the decisions of Campbell Brown and Andrew Lovett to turn down trade offers has highlighted the tarnished perceptions of the club.
Speaking to SEN's 'Morning Glory', Connors declared that Port is a club in turmoil.
"No-one wants to play at Port Adelaide," Connors said.
"It's as simple as that. They're a club who, even from Melbourne this year, we were able to see they just weren't a great club."
"They were up, they were down. They seem like they've got a good list. You know, Choco was under the pump all year, they play in front of crowds of 23,000, they've got financial issues."
"They need to build it from the bottom up."

Burgoyns management have given Hawthorn a 10.00am deadline to have the deal done, not being worked on, but done or he will go to Essendon.

Port have been advised to do a deal with Essendon immediately after the deal falls through or after 10.00am tomorrow.

Edit - That should have been Burgoyns management, not ports.

Source Cracka?

Do you mean Burgoynes management has given us a deadline?

F**k them. This deal stinks to high heaven.

I feel sorry for Shaun but this is ridiculous, time to focus our energies elsewhere in this trade period or pick up the 9th best kid in the draft.

May we never entertain a trade with these f**k wits ever again.

Good to hear that we aint taking shit anymore. If hawthorn want to waste our time then get ****ed. I would be happy to see SB go into the PSD are get picked by melbourne. We wont be getting bent over by any club!

Slight problem with that - Burgoyne has said we will only go to Hawthorn and he has to agree to a trade.
