port to do a deal on friday i reckon. friday arvo - last minute. taking the best offer we have for them. the hawks and burgoyne have port in a corner, like it or not.
they say you cant lose what you havent got. we dont have burgoyne yet. so we wont/cant lose him.
so, send him to us and we can give you either the best offer of a player with pick 9. or you can take a draft pick along with 9. and it wont be a first rounder. most likely second rounder. or you can just take pick 9.
the swans already offered a 3rd rounder for kennedy and was knocked back. sydney are very keen to get him so they might deal a 2nd rounder (pick 28) now they have 2 first rounders.
pick 9 & 28 for burgoyne, or
pick 9 and thorp/moss/tuck/kennedy/mcglynn for burgoyne or
ZIP, NIL, NOTHING, 0
and we lose nothing and possibly get him in the ND for nothing.
looking good for us hawks fans

Has Mark Williams lost the plot, let's be honest here Burgoyne is a good player. But he is 27, questions over his knees, had more than 30 possesions twice in his career, averages 19 touches a game, never won a best and fairest and has been all australian once.
And no doubt Hardie was told this by Jeff himself I s'pse? What utter crap by another useless big mouth.. How in the hell would he know that? Oh, I know, Pelchen rang him and gave him the information.. No doubt this was the conversation.CP.".Brad, oh Brad, I am going to be fired if I don't get this deal with Burgoyne through!!" What an utter tish stirrer that man is...Believe half of what he says, and the other half is all lies and rumours. He thrives on it.His favourite pastime is stirring up trouble for other clubs..Brad Hardie was saying on 6PR tonight, that if Pelchen does not get Burgoyne to Hawthorn, he will be sacked.
Mind you Brad does go over board with his emotions sometimes.
Hawthorn DO have something to lose. Their credibility - if the events of today haven't already ruined that. You guys have been in Burgoynes ear for a while. he nominates Hawthorn, and then goes to ground refusing to contemplate another club. But hawthorn cannot get the deal done. worse, they demonstrate to burgoyne that his commitment to get to them is not necessarily matched by the same steel to do what it takes to get him over. you won't trade a premiership player to get a premiership player? sorry shaun, off you go to melbourne. sorry for the inconvenience.
on top of that, a favourite son is incensed that he's even been approached by port. however you want to paint it, Brown was left out on a limb whether intentionally or not. Port left that meeting under the impression that hawthorn would be willing to part with Brown. And acted accordingly. His father rang kevin bartlett during the morning to confirm his sons fury. Kennett is forced to get on the airways and make statements that on face value, have tied the football departments hands (though if you read his words carefully, he can claim a couple of escape clauses). Williams is a premiership player, but he's most certainly being shopped around. is he exempt from el-presidente's edict?
today was not hawthorns finest hour. if you leave Burgoyne hanging with his arse in the breeze, an already gloomy opinion of hawthorn and it's methods will be solidified across the competition. Not that i care.

And we don't care what you think either. You can have him for pick 10 and 16, after all he is a p/ship player, even though he has questionable knees. You are welcome to him.Hawthorn DO have something to lose. Their credibility - if the events of today haven't already ruined that. Then why did you come on board and post such a detailed and very long message? I'm sure that you do care what is happening, you guys probably want him just as much as us Hawks fans.
Based on other trades from THIS YEAR, I think he is worth pick 9 + one of a late 2nd rounder/early 3rd rounder/fringe player (i.e. McGlynn, Morton, etc). However, I must say that I definitely do NOT buy into this "he has only had 30 plus possessions x amount of times, therefore he isnt worth that much, etc etc"!
People, we out of all clubs should realise that the number of possessions means almost absolutely nothing - its the quality of the possessions that is key!
Why should we know? Simple - Cyril Rioli!
We are always going on about how 15 possessions from Cyril equate to 30 possessions from Palmer because Cyril always produces magic with the bare minimum of fuss! Well, the same applies to Burgoyne...he is a gem, and we all know it...lets not start making up false remarks about his lack of possessions devaluaing his worth!

the "don't care" bit is in relation to whether hawthorn screw themselves over or not.
as for burgoyne, now that we've got something decent for lovett, i want to keep both picks and look 3 years ahead by drafting two young 1st round mids. you're welcome to burgoyne from my perspective. but bloody hell you're making a mess of it.
And we don't care what you think either. You can have him for pick 10 and 16, after all he is a p/ship player, even though he has questionable knees. You are welcome to him.
He is NOT worth more than a first round pick 9, and maybe another player who WNATS to go to PA.. Browny did NOT want to go. That was his choice, as he was still under contract with us, he chose not to go. I suppose if they don't accept 10 and 16 from your club, and demand 10 and a Michael Hurley, you would be more than happy to part with him?? I think not!! Willianms was out of his cottton pickin' mind demanding Lewis,Ladson or Schoenmakers as well as pick 9.. I have said before that Williams is a sandwich short of a picnic...It's time he was realistic!!
Are we? or is Port making it messy?
Most non bias opinions think our offer of pick 9 + a fringe player is fair.
McGlynn would walk straight into their best 22.
