What's happening down at Ormond? Can anyone shed any light on their ordinary start to the season?

Lost a number of good young players over the summer as we have highlighted, with at least 3 destined for seniors, however now have to rely on some tired old legs. Must hurt district clubs when they put so much investment into their juniors only for them to leave when they need them most.

Losses against Mazenod and OEG spells trouble I think, if they wish to stay up which i would love as the old Ormond v HR clashes (Barney, Robbins etc etc) would be fantastic to watch in 2012.

Robbins has defected again to Hastings as you would already know CC

yeah know that, and going nicely.

But the history is there:

1) the way HR got him away from Ormond. However as it all panned out I know a few Ormond guys are still rolling around the floor in laughter about how it all ended at Boss Reserve.

2) in regard to how Barney was treated when Ormond dumped him for Robbins.

So some massive history there between the 2 clubs and I really look forward to seeing them clash in 2012

I'm already pricing a big trophy to sponsor the Robbins Cup for when they meet. Only problem is it will be the first time 2 teams would be trying to lose a game.

Bit miffed by this one Carl. Barney got the bullet at the end of 2009 and was replaced by Mick Oaten. Didn’t Robbins also leave at the same time as Barney and then took up the coaching job at HR for the 2010 season? Ormond did not dump Barney for Robbins. They dumped him for Oaten.

Oh dear, do you think they removed Barney for Oatens?,

Maybe it was to make way for MR and then when HR snared him then they appointed Oatens.

Check the timelines - Ormond didn't appoint Oatens until well after MR was at HR.

As I said, should be a great clash.

They removed Barney for a number of reasons. Right or wrong it was mainly player driven and remember they were actually relegated at the end of 2009. Any coach who is in charge when that happens is always under the pump. It was not due to Robins being promised the job although clearly he was viewed as a potential replacement.

Ormond took a very long time with the selection process after Barney got the flick. Robbins was sick of waiting for an answer and HR swooped. He was interviewed but never appointed. Perhaps he might have been but never actually was. Robbins was no sure thing as Mick Oaten is favourite son at EE Gunn. Played with the club from juniors, multiple premiership player, long time U19 coach with a flag or 2 in the resume' also. He also played at the top level. Not saying it was the necessarily the correct choice but Oaten was always right in the mix for the top job.

You are quite right Rooster with all that.
CC i hope you are correct as the travel in C this year is horrific and would be nice to do the short drive to Boss James, having said that we need to get a few wins on the board.

:thumbsu:

I think you will stay up, as next year the youth should start to flow going by numbers in ya unders.

Not at all sure Matty was ever a serious contender for the senior coaching role.

Probably all adds up now why the delay as you guys did your due diligence and committed to a full interview process regardless of pressure from any applicant (unlike you know who!)
The 3 D's process is proven, yet again.

Well done.

Great footy day coming up! Should open the door for those with intent to beat those with talent. Or not.

Love that we're in the match of the day. Monash by 2 goals.
High at home by a fair bit.
Nodders too good at central reserve.
Rupo but who knows.
Angry bees to bounce back big time.

Good luck and be good to an umpire tomorrow.

Can anyone on here shed any light on what is going on at Old Camberwell? I'm not looking for any smart arse remarks either, but staring down the barrel of a 0-7 start and D Section, and let's be honest, Killworth has got plenty of form when it comes to relegating teams.

And while you are there - someone give me a bit of advice on when to tip Old Essendon / MHSOB for wins. Up and down like a Yo YO those two.

Good game by the tigerboys. Learnt well from last weeks loss with good attack at the player with the ball and around the stoppages. Onballers were very good this week after being smashed by Ajax last week.
Can't believe Ruppo got beaten by OE. Reckon will be a belter this week when Werribee take on Rupo at Rupo after their loss to OE. Werribee two's had a hard fought win also and remain unbeaten on top of the ladder.
