Dalziell should win the whole thing next year, but despite having under the number of games required, he will be overage.

There will be outrage if he doesn't get a nomination this year.

good prospect needs some serious work on decision making and disposal

Rubbish. What more does Dalziell have to do?

Clearly you guys don't watch much of Melbourne.

Cale's disposal has been erratic at times but he will be one of the best kicks going around in the game in a few years. He just hasn't gotten used to the pace of the game.

He runs as hard as anyone, he's 192cm and will still probably grow a bit more, he can find the footy and has excellent evasive skills, he has a nose for goal and his kicking will be amongst the best soon.

I'm extremely excited about him. We just need another 21 Cale Mortons ;) .

Its about time - expect this guy to rack up 30 odd every week from next season onwards.

Ball magnet with skill to boot - very surprised we didnt pick him up

it has been an open secret in AFL ranks that masten was not in the class morton, not even close.

The west coast Eagles would have been the only club that would have taken masten ahead of morton, it ranks of nepotism and is an absolute disgrace.

West coast fans will be seething for the next 15 years.

Morton will be an absolute superstar

What on earth are you smoking?

We overlooked Morton for afew reasons:

1. Mitch/his Dad burnt us unbelievably badly. The Dad was a total disgrace trying to interfere with selection. Mitch was a cry baby who chucked sads if he didnt get his way and then left the club when we promised him more opportunities this year.

2. Masten is a pure onballer. We needed that type of player to be winning clearances after the loss of Judd and Cousins. We have many tall flankers like Morton. Morton is very outside and while he will be a very good player I'm more than comfortable we went with someone like Masten.

Would have been interesting if we didnt have all those issues with Mitch but we did, and we couldnt go there again.

We will see.

Morton is 6 foot 4 runs a 15 beep runs 20 m in sub 3 seconds and has the elite kicking skills

Masten in 5 foot 9 a history of OP, average skills . Masten may be as good as Chad Fletcher in time.

Morton will be an absolute superstar. But again, we will see.

Nepotism at its worst was on display here, Masten is not in Mortons class, not even close.

You ignored the 2 reasons I gave for WC preferring Masten.
1. History with Mitch
2. Outside flanker.

Instead you want to parade around with some new word trying to impress everyone. Every WA scout on the WC recruiting team rated Masten #1 of the WA kids. To claim that Woodhouse picked him because he is his god son is laughable. That sort of thing might happen at a more unprofessional club but there are procedures, meetings and discussion that goes into every selection WC takes. Somehow I dont think Woodhouse would have addressed these meetings with the match committee and board members and said "Dont worry about pick 3, we're getting Masten because I've known him my whole life".

Morton is not where the question mark is. He was never in the mix, our experience with Mitch was that bad. It was Masten or Myers or Palmer that is and was at issue. And the reason we went with Masten is because of his clearance work as that is where the modern game is won.

Done more than anyone ever expected of him in his first season, hopefully he can continue his development into one of the best mids in the comp over the next few years.

Perhaps, but you've just suggested that they didn't pick Morton because of his elder brother. That's not very professional.

Why isn't it professional?

Morton was very deserving. He played a great game against us.

Was amongst a mix of 3 who were best on ground (Eagles included). Fantastic for Melbourne, remembering that he is only a first year player.

What history? Attitude or just no good?

Attitude. Thought he should have been playing from the day he arrived. We tried to instill disipline in his game, get him to work hard and earn his spot. Little Mitch thought it was all too hard and went to get a game at club who promised him a game. We also had issues with his Dad sticking his head in. Thus the issue was with the Morton family just as much as it was with Mitch. Getting Cale just wouldnt have worked. The clubs relationship with the Morton's was too strained.

If these are the reasons for passing over the better player I can't believe you are defending them. Thanks though.
