I just thought if he was staying, some fan fare would surround it, he would reassure everyone, the club would show some excitement instead of pathetic hope. Silence spoke volumes. Good luck to him for going to make cash king. We all leave jobs for more cash, don't we?

...but if he thinks he's welcome back at the club when his GWS contract is up, he can get stuffed.

I would be very happy to feel silly. Don't think it will happen unfortunately. The offer made to him by the Bulldogs was a very generous one and above what he is really worth at this stage. No club could match the GWS money bribe and when he goes we just move on.

He aint, he told the players Wednesday. He played like he had one foot on the plane. He was hanging out a bit and taking care of himself. He still played pretty well but not the usual crazy no fear Ward. Best of luck to him...time to move on.

Callan Ward today informed the Western Bulldogs that he will head to the new AFL franchise Greater Western Sydney for season 2012.

good to hear at the bottom there that we have more re-signings to be announced soon. probably boydy, gia, cross, etc.

Wire taps of the phones of all player managers/Recruiters to ensure no contract discussion take place before the end of the season.

The rules were changed, the only criteria is now Age and Contract if that gets him into a particular band then we get that compensation. So as I've repeated to almost every Geelong supporter blow in on our board, you can't compare what Ablett got last year.

Yes I've seen you post that a number of times.
I reckon you might get a pick that can be used immediately after your first pick.
But you are not getting 2 top ten picks. 2 end of first round maybe. So pick 19, 20.

Regarding this.. I'm an afl member club support bulldogs.. I'm presuming some of my cash has helped this?? May just have to move my membership to just bulldogs social club member. Does anyone know what my afl membership other then tickets to any game go to? I'd much rather all my money go straight to the dogs now

In the absence of a paper trail, assuming there is no paper trail, how would you like the AFL to prove the allegation made against clubs approaching players before the end of the season. Mere rumor isn't enough, for every one thats correct there is a dozen that are wrong.

There should be another band that sits above all compensation bands for losing two quality young players to expansion teams in successive years.

"No signing, no heads of agreement, no nothing, it is illegal" to paraphrase Adrian Anderson.

Phil Davis came out and said he'd come to terms with GWS and agreed to move.

Ward came to the club and said "they've put an ultimatum to me, and want an answer in the next week, that's clearly against the rules"

Clear cut, easily provable breaches, but nothing was done, and nothing will be done.

GWS is owned by the league, and it is clear cut AFL sanctioned corruption - other than the odd shake of the head in disbelief, the media have just laughed it off and let them off the hook.

The cats probably should have got pick 1 & 2 for Gaz and the Demons should probably get pick 1 for Scully. That wont happen either.
