Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

Ward is worth 10 Ablett's, we should be getting far higher compo than what Ablett got. Ward will provide 10-13 years of service, far longer than Ablett at GC.

Ablett delivered you multiple AA's, BnF's, Brownlows and Premierships and you want to ride his coattails further and secure picks 1 and 2 for a individual you got on the cheap with the F&S rule. Ward in his 4 years of service has provided SFA of what Ablett has to Geelong furthermore he came at a investment of PICK 19, A FIRST ROUNDER.

this isnt a charity case Geelong supporters ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

"No signing, no heads of agreement, no nothing, it is illegal" to paraphrase Adrian Anderson.

Phil Davis came out and said he'd agreed to move.

Ward came to the club and said "they've put an ultimatum to me, and want an answer in the next week, that's clearly against the rules"

Clear cut breaches, but nothing was done, and nothing will be done.

GWS is owned by the league, and it is clear cut AFL sanctioned corruption - other than the odd shake of the head in disbelief, the media have just laughed it off and let them off the hook.
The club would simply deny any agreement existed. It's their word against that of the player/agent. Without any supporting evidence the AFL would be unable to take any action.

Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

There should be another band that sits above all compensation bands for losing two quality young players to expansion teams in successive years.

Yeah I have to agree....it must be taken into concideration. We have now lost 2 players entering their prime. We have lost two players that would have been 10 year players. We have not lost blokes who maybe have 2 or 3 years left. I don't think the AFL expected them to go for this age of player....so clearly it's not been thought through.

We must get 2 first round picks or we have really be been ripped!

Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

Considering Wards mother gave away the offer was made months ago it's no mere rumour or speculation.
Can Ward's mother provide corroborating evidence? If not then the AFL would be unable to take action. Any action taken by the AFL must stand up to potential challenge in the courts by the offending club.

OH YES, THEY ARE VERY CLEVER AT ORGANIZING EVERYTHING APART from finding out the truth when it doesn't suit them.

A***holes

Wow, love the AFL much. Is that you Andrew or Adrian?

Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

Tell me exactly how would you go about proving that AFL rules had been breached?

Phil Davis had a ****ing press conference saying he had AGREED to go to GWS you bloody numpty. Holy shit.

I don't know exactly, not being a lawyer. But having evidence from the player involved would be a good start. They don't operate on normal common law rules but that might do them. Maybe get a lawyer or QC to investigate. One thing for sure, they won't find anything if they don't look.

You an apologist for the AFL?

Forget him, noticed his last infraction was in the Phil Davis thread on the Crows board.

GWS simply deny any agreement has been made. Its the club word against the players. That is insufficent evidence to take any action.

In this case Phil Davis would simply withdraw his statement, saying it was a miscommunication between himself and his manager. The manager made on offer to the club who then said they would consider it. Davis misunderstood it has meaning a deal was done. No breach of the rules here.

Have asked Fred to remove his board access. He can ask for it back once this blows over.

i noticed on saturday, Callan was on his own on the wing most times and players didnt pass to him, they found more loyal options. The system is a joke, he wasnt being respectful to our club, he was just waiting to meet the legalities. as far as im concerned he is gold plated little Tu*d. Wishing him nothing but misery in Western Sydney:mad:

Re: Callan Ward - Part 2

Finally an announcement on the news we already knew. Time to move on and forget about him.

Really crap for you guys. I'd be gutted if it was Ziebell for us. Hope you get fairly compensated but suspect you won't.

Non exhastusive evidence that could be used;
1) A credible third party witness
2) Documentation, e.g. signed agreement dated prior to the ending of the season
3) A recording of conversation between the Club and player management.

Their is no reason for the negotation to have been carried out in front a third party. 2) and 3) would require the co-operation of the player/manager and they almost certainly wouldn't co-operatate.

allegedly you're a bit of a douchebag hornberger
Yes but unfortunately without corroborating evidence it can't be proven one way or the other.

No offence mate but if someone offered you more than double your wage to change company's you work for, you would be gone...

This is their job, although we hate it, most people will do the same job for more money if offered.....
