This is a valid question as he head requested a trade to WA and the giants will want the best trade for their club. So they could quite easily trade with WC
If he had requested freo or Port I would have asked what about Port
We need a forward they don't that's why I was wondering if they would be interested as he is a quality player

A bit hard to do that though if GWS either won't trade, or only agree to a trade deal that makes Eddie and Collingwood look like trade table push overs.
And who gets delisted...we have Sylvia's 350k (guessing) available and his spot being taken most likely by a draftee
While playing as a 2nd string big forward his 35 goals would put him in the higher end of season tallies compared to almost any big/medium forward to have played for Freo. Pav being the exception naturally. We have had a few smalls do it however....Walters, Ballas and Farmer come to mind.
1.75 goals a game is worth having and an upgrade on anything we have other than Pav. Plus he is still young.

I agree, one is a stay at home FF and the other a mobile third tall. Easily can play both.

Nah, I realise that. Besides, I doubt GWS want to keep anyone who doesn't want to be there. Picking up someone like Shultz might actually strengthen our position though because if GWS try and squeeze us too tight we could always threaten what I suggested - even though it was a tongue in cheek comment.
Shultz would be a good pick up regardless. Even if Pav plays on, there's no guarantee he'll stay healthy for the year. Cam isn't yet a genuine first tall either. We also lack a genuine second tall so even if we get McCarthy, I wouldn't be against picking up the Sarge.
On AFL site they are saying that giants need to stay strong and not trade Cam to send a message to other players after the Boyd thing

That would make contract negotiations very difficult for GWS in the future though

Yeah I think we give first pick and a decent player (Croz tier). I dont see how its not a win win. GWS you dont have afl ready forwards sitting around playing magoos. You sell them while there hot and top up in areas of weakness. our first rounder and Clarke or Croz or even Shero. Its a good deal for both.
Unless his contract was front-loaded, which it may have been for us to meet the cap requirements and maintain a war chest.
GWS have Cameron, Patton, and Stewart as key forwards. McCarthy is probably just ahead of Stewart, but still. We need key forwards, they need ruckmen.

Except they've come out and categorically rejected it. Doesn't seem they are even looking for a good deal

Rejecting a deal worked well for us last year.
Why would you keep a player on your list that doesn't want to play for your club? If they want to play hardball, Freo will simply shaft them when the time comes, and his contract is up.
