And Langdon, Weller, Blakey are potentially better than all of them
We won't win a premiership for a very long time if we don't get McCarthy. I mean I can't say that for certain but finding good key forwards without anything other than a top 10 pick is extremely rare. If anything having kids like this already helps back up my point that we just can't make trades like the Schwabolly era too much but one or two doesn't hurt.

Cam McCarthy's year:

R1 vs. St Kilda: kicked 3.1 from 8 kicks (5 marks) as the 3rd tall.
R2 vs. Melbourne: kicked 3.0 from 9 kicks (4 marks) as the 3rd tall. (Tomlinson injured in this game...played as 2nd tall from here on)
R3 vs. Sydney: kicked 2.2 from 10 kicks (3 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R4 vs. Gold Coast: kicked 5.2 from 12 kicks (6 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R5 vs. West Coast: kicked 1.0 from 8 kicks (5 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R6 vs. Hawthorn: kicked 1.0 from 4 kicks (3 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R7 vs. Carlton: kicked 2.2 from 12 kicks (9 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R8 vs. Adelaide: kicked 4.1 from 9 kicks (6 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R9 vs. Bulldogs: kicked 1.0 from 4 kicks (3 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R10 vs. Brisbane: kicked 2.0 from 8 kicks (5 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R11 vs. Collingwood: kicked 4.1 from 7 kicks (3 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R12 vs. North Melb: kicked 1.0 from 6 kicks (2 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R14 vs. Richmond: kicked 0.1 from 2 kicks (2 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R15 vs. St Kilda: kicked 2.1 from 3 kicks (2 marks) as the 2nd tall.
R16 vs. Gold Coast: kicked 1.1 from 4 kicks (2 marks) as the 2nd tall. (Subbed off)
*dropped for 2 weeks*
R19 vs. Essendon: kicked 2.0 from 7 kicks (5 marks) as the 3rd tall. (Subbed on in Q3. Patton returned by now)
R20 vs. Port Adelaide: kicked 1.0 from 4 kicks (1 mark) as the 3rd tall.
R21 vs. Sydney: kicked 0.0 from 1 kick (1 mark) as the 3rd tall. (Subbed on in Q3. Patton injured in this game)
R22 vs. Carlton: kicked 0.0 from 5 kicks (1 mark) as the 2nd tall.
R23 vs. Melbourne: kicked 0.2 from 9 kicks (3 marks) as the 2nd tall.

Certainly a solid year until fatigue took its toll (actually very average after R11), but in most situations he was playing as the 2nd or 3rd tall alongside Jeremy Cameron and Jonathon Patton/James Stewart and a resting ruckman early in the season when Mumford was playing. My concern is that he will struggle as the #1 key forward with only Tabs/Apeness and maybe Pav if we're lucky as support.

Only 7.5 from the last nine games of the season. That's Taberner-esque!

Oh yeah no doubt hes a piece of a bigger puzzle. But at least we are starting to solve that puzzle.

Maybe that's when the offer from Freo went to his manager, his form dropped and the home sickness started badly. Missing family and the thought of the extra dollars make it hard for a young bloke.

I think the best we can offer ibbo and first round pick provide ibbo want to go , or mayne, suban and a pick..next year no sub rule Barlow flexibity is too much to let go ,remember the goal he kick against the crow.

I was briefly into trading Barlow but after seeing how he is Fyfe's BFF I've changed my mind. He is like our Samwise Gamgee.

I'd offer Mayne as the player to trade along with the picks. I'm sure his model girlfriend wouldn't mind living in Sydney either.

Ross is a defence first coach. He would not want one of our best defenders gone so we can maybe get a extra 2 goals a game.

Well if Lyon et al do the makeover right we really won't have a #1 forward, they will all just contribute Hawks style.

Sometime we need to review our list I think gray can do the job in the end up to Ross , upside gray might not be as good as ibbo now but at his age who can said he won't be as good or better at age 24_with afl experience.

Man I would kill for a Roughhead and a Gunston. Macarthy would be one hell of a Gunston potentially.
That's the kind of position I'm expecting McCarthy to end up as. So we still need our Roughy... Tabs get to work!

And no to trading Ibbo. He's the perfect age, elite backman. If we trade someone like that away, we'll have to start rebuilding our backline in a year and end up with the same problem we have at the moment.

If got choice I also want to keep Ibbo too bad if you look at gws what they want is intercepted marker at the back to improve their list and give them time to developed another, which we need to do if Johnson still around. Gws got bulldog captain for unproven talented Tom Boyd.

I'm more confident that McCarthy will wind up in purple next year than I am of Bennel, and Bennel is pretty much a lock......

Yeah our list is still fairly precariously placed right now. You are probably right about Ibbo as well, I guess seeing as we plucked SCOS and Spurr and from what I read somewhere Faulks is actually looking solid at VFL level. We seem to be able to identify backmen ok. Ibbo cant play on Gorillas either.

Did I miss something, Ibbo didn't play the 2013 GF.

He was injured from round 18. We missed him.
