Traded Cameron McCarthy [traded to Fremantle with picks 7, 33 and 71 for pick 3]

Why. Handing a 3rd round pick is silly when GWS don't need a 3rd round. They have a ton of picks in the top 30 and don't need to delist many players as they have so many guns
It doesn't matter if they are going to use the pick or not as they can trade it to someone who will.
Hawthorn will probabbly want a pick in th 30-45 range with us probably using both 1st rounder this year and next. Will probably be our 2nd pick in the draft as i imagine we will use 1 of our 2nd and Mayne compo received from Hill.

Heh this thread has basically moved into a stalling pattern where everyone's in a rough agreement re: McCarthy's fate this year, until a new participant (generally not supporting GWS or Fremantle) pops in to stir up the "with hindsight" arguments for a couple of days.

I'm really hoping this will be a Day 1 job to minimize the latter. :D

That's because he had surgery on his hand and wasn't cleared to play until just before wafl finals. Is that hard to comprehend?

One's injured and one's ill, doesn't matter what the cause is when you starting counting from zero and end at zero it's the same result.
Not sure who is lacking comprehension.

You must be a terrible counter then because he played 5 games including 4 in the finals series

Is the WAFL not a competition anymore? You got it wrong and you are now trying to ignore the WAFL competition to go on about your shitty point.

Just admit you were wrong mate

The initial point, mate, is that it's not unusual to have players on your list who don't play a game in any given year, for whatever reason, I clearly (mistakenly in your opinion) assumed this was an AFL discussion, but if you want Cam to play WAFL only, then for sure count Balic's games.

It isn't common to have a player refuse to play for a club or their reserves team for a whole year but keep telling yourself that mate:thumbsu:

We had Balic playing as soon as he was fit as well as training with our group throughout the season

Your first explanation was adequate. If someone has a limited contextual understanding and problem solving skills you are wasting your time.

Youre going to lose McCarthy for nothing because you played a childish hard ball game when a more than fair offer was on the table. Now you have missed out on pick 3 and spent a year where you missed the grand final with a player on the list that wasnt even in the state to contribute. Suffer

Pretty sure most people agree the decision was correct at the time, and not just for the benefit of the giants but for all interstate clubs, otherwise good luck keeping any Victorian drafted..

And yeah, we missed the grand final by a kick, pretty sure we must be doing ok, not really suffering tbh.

If you are not suffering after being a kick away from the Grand Final and losing, you need to experience more heartbreaking losses before you deserve to get into the big dance.

So can Rory Lobb have a holiday in Perth next year and then be traded for a 2nd rounder.

Giants should demand a top 20 selection which he is worth or let him sit on the beach for another year.

I dunno. GWS had their reasons. To call your own team stupid with the benefit of hindsight is a bit rich...:D

So what you're saying is that you refused to trade him forthe benefit of interstate clubs?

Well that includes Freo so thank you for being so courteous :thumbsu:

Ah, a rarely seen verbose version of "I know you are, you said you are". :p
