The fact that this question is being asked makes me smile...a lot
Not too loudly though.

I honestly believe this Tigers team plays pressure footy that no other team can handle when they are on.
No other team is as organised and disciplined, so it's hard to see why b2b will not eventuate, although we saw in 08 that a team that only loses 1 game for the year can still be beaten by a talented team on GF day.
So yes, things have to peak in September again as well.
But the CAN question is clearly a resounding YES.

Where the tigers lack is an elite 6 or 7 players, by my estimation they have 4 possibly 5.

Where they excel is that the players who make up their 16-22 are better than most opposition 16-22.

Coaching - game plan last year was suited to the players, players didnt appear to have to fit a pre-conceived game plan for how the coach wanted to play.

Most important factors - will they be fit and in form in the last 2 months of tbe season.

Question marks lie in keeping up the intensity all year. There is a strong mental application involved as well as the physical and it is a long season. Teams will be coming harder at us this year also throughout the H&A.

Martin, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Rance, Vlastuin, Houli, Prestia, Rioli - I'd regard them as elite without even looking at their list. Don't think it matters how we describe individual players anyway, because when they play as a team, the collective is the best in the comp.

No one took them seriously until half way through the grand final, because frankly no one thought they were any good. Things will be very different now they have a target on their back. Throw into that they haven't improved their list and you have the perfect recipe for bulldogs 2017.

Their core is their same core from when they were the joke of the AFL, going to be some tough truths this year once they realize they just got lucky in 2017...

No one?
I picked them for the flag after they belted St Kilda.
The pressure they applied to an optimistic Saints team was the prelude to what we saw in September.
Losing in Geelong was a non-issue and gave me no confidence as a Cats fan given no finals are ever played there, and it's too narrow a ground for teams like Richmond.

**** yeah mate, we're going to make you pay.........

I still fail to see how fluking or Bradburying a premiership is logical, it's just not. You can't fluke a season proper of 12-15 wins to get into the finals then play the best of the best........and fluke it, it's not a ******* fluke.

Neither Western or Richmond "fluked" their flags they won them from being the best team in their respective years. There's a few on here that need to accept this or else they won't be posting long due to an aneurysm.
Too much sense for a Carlton supporter.

Well, no one in the bubble you live in. Everyone knew that whoever won the QF between Geelong and Richmond had a great shot at it.

Don’t mistake your ignorance and stupidity as being the consensus opinion champ;)

Would add Grimes, rarely beaten, just ask Betts.

Astbury, only 41 games in his first 6 years through injury, missed 4 games early/mid 2016 and played every game in 2017, has cemented himself as our best one on one defender taking the oppositions so called best big key forwards, just ask Tex in the GF.

Add those two with Rance and its a formidable key back trio

So the Cats, Giants and Crows didn't take Richmond serious going into the last quarter of the QF?

Can you list the players of that core?

The funny part is how you think during this time that while Collingwood put all it’s faith in nafan while he made a premiership list significantly worse every year that you actually think another club was the joke of the AFL.
One day you’ll get a clue.

Things change really quickly in footy. Collingwood went from premier to unravelling really quickly. They still had guns but their weaker players were exposed and the club soon couldn't win games like they could in 2010 and 2011.

So basically as long as we don’t make Bucks coach we are golden.

Can add Lambert, Edwards and Houli as A/B+ players as well. It's not at all about just Jack, Cotch, Rance and Dusty.

I like the tigers again this year. Self belief will be there, I would hate to think how much energy they have burnt over the last 5 years on expecation. They are not a Dogs 16 that came from no where, they made 3 finals the years before 17 (albiet without a win). Have the best player and best defender in league, and some other handy A+ graders (Cotch, Jack)

First time for a long time the Tigers go into round one against Blues resounding favourites without the usual fear of will the f$%k it up (probably put the jinx on them now)

Add Grigg. Dimma said post GF "On The Couch" edition, Grigg has the smartest footy brain on our list, his organisation of players and his positioning in the ruck at stoppages meant we were rarely beaten. Percentage wise for ruck contested/clearance his was better than Nankervis in the GF

That’s more of a concern for the teams we played. We were not that great last night. We are playing well, but not at our best
We were taking the piss most of last night. Look away handballs and tap ons galore lol
