I really rate Hagan, really good balanced player, composed, but with height at 176, hopefully he grows a bit more. That might be difficult given his dad is around 170

At this stage, still a 1st rounder

Yeah, probably true, but it could be a case of getting a very good player later in the first round. He has so many elite traits compared to many others in the draft.

Lachie neale 177 goes alright

Murley grew up with a navy blue persuasion, and while he remains a Blue at heart, he is putting that love to the side for now.
“Me and dad joked around about that, given Collingwood and Carlton have a bit of a rivalry,” he said.
“I reckon the tables have somewhat changed now considering I do play for Collingwood.
Always by heart I’m always going to be a Blues boy, but not for the time being.” - Cooper Murley

Poor bugger.

Tyreece Leiu (194/93) started season 2021 at the centre bounces, rotating forward as usual before finding an unlikely home in defence, where his intercept ability was unearthed. With all three lines covered across his junior career, the big bodied 18-year-old is a versatile talent who provides strength at the contest and has adjusted well to different roles thus far. Having been part of Vic Metro’s undefeated Under 16 side, he was set to done the Big V again this year but missed due to injury.

Coming into the year, Leiu was expected to be a handy point of difference in Eastern’s midfield, feeding the classy movers to the outer. Having done some nice things up forward before finding a home in defence, he has gone on to prove his versatility and find new ways to impact games. Which role suits him best in the eye of recruiters may impact his draft range, but he would be a handy pick in the third or fourth rounds.

This was the strange bit:

A strong-bodied inside midfielder capable of providing marking presence at either end of the ground, with sound reading of the play and clean hands.

Anyone you should be telling us about, mate…

There's a good chance vaccine mandates will fall away mid January....could we get Jones back?
Will they though? In every state? And vaccine requirements around flying and border entry?

He retired. His choice. Dare say that’s him done, at least for 2022, but likely for good.

I liked Leiu's work in defence for Eastern. He reads the play really well & takes a strong mark. At this stage of his development he has a bit more to offer than Akuei in the 3rd tall stakes.

I agree with that, perhaps Akuei has a much higher ceiling if he can realise that potential

Also agree with you that I would like to see Akuei trialed as a 3rd tall forward

Tyreece leiu seems like an astute choice. He ticks all the boxes on paper, no idea if he can play or not though.
In leiu of Jones.
Frankly I'm pleased.
We could do with some more vowels in the team.

After watching his highlites reel, I'm surprised he wan't picked up in the drafts.
Agree. But on the other hand young Crippa makes his big brother look like Speedy Gonzales.
But if he can clunk it and kick straight, who cares.

He reminds me of Griffin Logue in looks, size, build, movement and the way he plays. I liked Logue a lot in his underage year, and he went about Pick 10 and is a staple for Freo. So am happy to give Lieew a try. Even though we have Marchy, Kemp, Parks, Silvagni and McG around his size/field position.

Who knows, he might have a few cm's left in him yet too. And who knows, he might match up to taller opponents even if he doesn't have a few cm's left.

Good choice as a train on. Could easily have been a drafted player.
