He pretty much played at Centre Half Back from 1972 until we recruited Val Perovic in 1980, then he moved to the half back flank.

And keep in mind he was only 6 foot 1 inch / 185cm.

Said it before but why is his name not on every “influencers” lips when the discussion on the next legend of the afl is taking place. The club has got to be more agressive with their lobbying. He is out of sight out of mind and his name is not sexy enough for the media to take the running. Seems like you have to be a forme player in the media to be considered.

By the by love the story Parkin tells about Doull when in his first year at Carlton. Parkin sends a message to Doull, who responds “I don’t get the runner”. (Or something like that).

One wonders if the AFL have already approached Doull & in true Doull fashion he has said "no thanks" as he has no desire to be involved in the fanfare that comes with being named an AFL legend.

Very humble. Still turns up at his junior club and helps coach / run water or whatever they need.
