When asked how he felt about hearing that Clarkson could be on the move to Carlton, Curnow said he was “pretty excited”.

I think he’d be a great assistant to Teaguey
(David Teague),” he told The Oval Office.
“Teaguey’s doing a great job at the moment.”

It's on CH9 and hosted by Sam McClure.

Can't have seen much of him to question his leadership. Guy is a rock in defence and one of the hardest players in the game. Basically a hybrid of our captains.
Hurn also the best kick in the competition by a country mile.

Do you remember where tex was rated when the crows made the grand final... We all know where he should've been but a successful looking team led to him being voted best captain in the league that season....

Hurn seems lie a decent bloke and is a much better player then the big doofus

That show looks like Sicily is a permanent fixture? Sam McClure isn't the most likable character either, jeez how long will that last!

Sam McClure whether we like him or not, does have a style.
Has the ability to make something sound grander and more exciting than it is and without using Whateley's staccato style, or unnecessary pregnant pauses.
See him having a long life on radio.

Following completion of round 14 discussion around some cool metrics:
- Most effective players going inside 50 in the game
- Most effective tacklers in the AFL (Ed Curnow ranked number 1- 80% of his tackles are effective!)

Carlton inside 50 stats
1. Patrick Cripps- 36 @ 37%
2. Paddy Dow- 41 inside 50s, 34% resulting in scores
3. Zac Fisher- 40 @ 30%
4. Sam Walsh- 39 @ 28%
5. Marc Murphy- 33 @ 27%

Not a good look for Marc Murphy as such an experienced player!!!

Carlton players for tackle effectiveness (for players with more than 50 tackle attempts)
1. Ed Curnow 80% (no.1 in AFL)
2. SPS 70%
3. Michael Gibbons 69%
4. Paddy Cripps 61%
5. Sam Walsh 60%
6. Zac Fisher 58%
7. Paddy Dow 57%

Says to me that Fisher and Dow struggle due to their size to stick their tackles, while SPS has a wonderful tackling technique from what I've seen of him. AFL average for tackle effectiveness is about 64%.

Discussed in detail at a league level in the episode below...

Ed might be the most effective but he has laid 31 less tackles than Cripps (80 to 49) so I assume 49 effective tackles to 39.

Gibbons, Fisher, Walsh and Dow are all within 3 total tackles (between 38 & 35) so better comparison and obviously Gibbon extra few years in age makes a massive difference to his strength.

SPS (61 tackles to be second at the club) by my calc would only be 6 effective tackles behind Cripps over the season (49 to 43) which is a pretty impressive result for a lightly built 3rd year player.
