How incoming draft rule changes will make Blues’ four-club trade of Paddy Dow worthless

Robbo Tackle

6. Grabbing your opportunity

Alex Cincotta has played the past seven games for Carlton and has emerged as a weapon for coach Michael Voss. He is setting the trend in the return of the run-with player. His opponents have been Bobby Hill, Kossie Pickett, Tom Papley, Touk Miller, Zak Butters, Zach Merrett and on Friday night it was Tom Stewart. Cincotta has won all seven contests. Stewart had 15 disposals and one intercept mark and Cincotta had 10 touches, kicked two goals and laid seven tackles. It’s been a defining move for Cincotta and for Voss. The 27-year-old has played just 26 games, but it’s not inconceivable to think Voss would place Cincotta’s magnet first beside the opposition’s most damaging player and then name the team around him. At a guess, this week it’s Richmond (Shai Bolton). Then it’s the Giants (Toby Greene or Tom Green). Then it’s the Dogs (maybe Bontempelli or Treloar). Then it’s North Melbourne (Luke Davies Uniacke). What a find Cincotta is.

On SEN last week, Sam Edmund said he'd contacted a number of clubs re: the potential changes. Varying degrees of support, but one particular club - which you would assume may be the Stains - were very vocal. He said that they were totally sick and tired of clubs getting access to young stars for chicken feed and had had enough. When asked if they supported the changes being implemented this year, the response was 'absolutely not'.

Seems to be the general consensus to everyone including rival clubs, journo's, and past players working in the media....but not Laura and the AFL....

Slobos likes. Number one is ***** beating an Eagles side with injuries galore who had the same scoring shots. Absolute farce the media keep pumping them up.
It's weird because if you read the text, it's anything but pumping them up. He's looking at their stats and questioning whether they are deserving of a top 4 team, and saying that they'll need to improve a lot to stay there.

It's weird that it's no.1 under likes tbh.

I know he's not thought much of, but Campbell Brown put Cincotta in his team of the week.

Looks like people are really taking notice

AFL have history with us, where we lost priority picks in 2004 when they changed the rules right before we were to benefit.

How can any professional organisation implement changes to the draft in the same season after clubs have trading future picks from the previous year 😳.

Absolute Ameatures.
I made this very point last week, simply has to challenged in the court if they go through with it.....
