I think Rance said thats what he was thinking during the game when we started coming back..mentally fragile?
It's what I always tell people.

When they have a lead and we start a comeback there is always that moment you see them drop their heads. The way they dwell on it too... We have them mentally beat

I was too young to notice but what was Carltons demeanor against the bombers in the early-mid eighties. They had the wood over us at one of our most dominant times

It happens a lot in team sports the 'here we go again' sets in

That was when the real rivalry started for me. We just kept finding ways to lose to them. As always, and right up to the current day, they lifted against us. I'd have to get one of the archival guns here to check but I think we may have struggled a bit in GFs had we not been able to avoid meeting them somehow. They often seemed to lose EFs or the like.

It's a different kind of nuts though

When I'm raging at the screen its more along the lines of

"who the **** is this guy?" since they always tend to have one player like Jarrad Grant ( who I had never heard of before) who ends up kicking 4 goals on us. Must admit that I don't know half of the North and Bulldogs teams by name or face.

Let's face it, he was never going anywhere. Having said that, it will be great to lock him away for 5 years:thumbsu: Have always loved how much Murph has loved the club
5 years for Smurph... 3 years for Gibbs with a 2 year option... one that slightly benefits the team and the last year option benefits the player.

Can't remember the last time we've kept such a low profile in the off-season.

Clearly by design but just not sure whether it's a good thing or not................yeah, it's a good thing.

Dont fancy some naked footballers at the casino?

interestiing one, the marketing and business depts would be wanting a lot of exposure. Where the footy dept would be wanting the least amount of headlines.

Bit of chicken and egg going on. :)

Seems that MM may have got his way and we're just going to do things with a little less ceremony this time around.
Mick and his deputies do seem to be quite happy about proceedings on the ground..............................fingers crossed.

EFC lost EFs in 1972, 1973, 1979, 1981 & 1982. They finally broke their EF duck in 1983. No surprise that it was against us & this breakthrough propelled then into the '83 GF & onto premiership success in '84 & '85.

I don't think we would have had too much trouble accounting for them in '72 & '79. '81 could have been a bit more problematic with them having beaten us 3 times during the season (including the night GF) & clearly having the wood on us that year. '82 might have been a problem as well, given they also beat us both times that year.

Did anyone catch the 7:30 report on ABC last night? They had a story on the corruption in the building industry and referenced MC Services as one of those companies doing shady things. Wouldn't have been such a problem if they didn't mention that they have links with a football club in Melbourne and then go on to show a training session with our players training in front of their signage at Visy Park.

Admittedly they didn't name the club but anyone that knows AFL would have been able to tell who it was. It's a little bit obscure and doesn't impact on us directly but it wasn't a particularly good look.

They also sponsor Geelong and possibly one other club.

The dominator worked for them I believe and he was the instigator in getting them on board as a sponsor in the dark days of the last decade.

Yes and it doesn't help when a long time opposition poster (former Mod IIRC) starts a thread on the main board trying to make it sound like Carlton are doing something dodgy. The brown paper bag jibes came out and someone had to remind them that MC Services also sponsor Collingwood. Fortunately, the thread was shut down but it goes to show how little people need to troll Carlton.

I know someone in the company and the boss is a huge Carlton fan so the guy in advertising decided to be funny and use some of the budget to get MC on the ball at every Collingwood home game.

That contract may be over as of this or last year IIRC.

They give a lot of money to a lot of clubs but we are their main recipient
