Carlton is still chasing Daniel Bell !

Meh, I'm not too fussed. When he's fit and confident he's a decent player but he's sorely lacking that at Melbourne. Maybe a change of scenery will work well for him. I reckon tomorrow clubs will do a final list assessment and thats when picks 35-50 will start getting thrown around for players like Bartram and Bell.

Bell seems alright, but i think if we could get something for him why wouldnt we? he is not going to be in our best 22 come finals in a couple of years... Why hold on to him?

Wouldn't be suprised if Bell gets traded for some pick in the 60's, 70's etc to clear list place and give him another chance in his AFL career. One less player we would need to delist and doubtful we would use picks.

Only thing may be usefull for is to upgrade a pick slightly. Say something like Bell and Pick 50 for pick 43. End of the day if it does go through will be only done to give us room on our list, nothing more nothing less

I really used to rate this guy, and still do to an extent, but I think he has probably run out of chances.

He has great pace, acceleration, decent skills and a strong body combined with tackling ability and tenacity. His problems, however, relate to vision, awareness and confidence, and when the latter is low, he becomes a lot worse in terms of the other two flaws mentioned.

Due to this, I can see why Carlton has an interest. If they think they can get his mental attributes in order, I still see quite a bit of hope for Daniel.

speaking of fevola, did anyone manage to spot the little easter egg inserted into the green guide today?

(have a look at the page with thursday the 15th's program listings)

Offloading him for a nothing pick isn't going to work. It was reported we are 500k below the minimum player payments as it is. Id rather not be 700-800k below and having to give it to undeserving players in our team.

What is Daniel Bell?

I understand your point though, we are in a bit of a pickle with managing the cap atm.

Funny that some clubs like Geelong can't afford to spend anymore in the salary cap, whereas we can't afford to NOT spend anymore. A lazy half a million dollars waiting for some lucky player/s.

On to Bell. Carlton can take him and a set of steak knives if they want. He'll fit in well with Johnson and the Bullants. Maybe we could give them Bell and pick 34 for pick 27. Sounds reasonable.

This can be overcome by 'front loading' other contracts - ie Davey just signed 4 years so he might earn twice as much this year as he will in 2013.

Also, it means we've got a fair bit to tempt Luke Ball with - offer him $650,000 for next year and reduce it in 2011 to 300,000 when we plan to trade him for a draft pick....

I was even thinking bell and buckley for pick 27...hell i even throw in pick 50 to get pick 27. That would mean 1, 2, 11, 18, 27 and 34 = 6 picks in the top 34, not to mention would give us room to use the PSD pick and upgrade Valenti to the senior list.

I believe hawthorn did a similar deal with kennedy and Mglynn to get 3 higher picks, i would prefer to go for 1 quality pick.

I will be happy with that :)
