jacobs + first round pick for Boak.

That's a fair deal.

Tend to agree with the Port poster on the previous page, Boak is to Port what Gibbs is to Carlton.

Which means what would we give up for Gibbs? A late first round pick in a weak draft and a fringe ruckman? No way

And draft swaps don't really get down to what is fair and what is not - it gets down to how bad one club wants another player and what the opposing club wants in exchange for him.

We (the Blues) wouldn't let a player go and swap him on fairness - we'd swap on whatever we could get for the departing player, fair or unfair

Oh my god. Someone talking sense on the D&T board.

if we are going to get Boak we have to give up plenty, Boak is a quality midfielder, I'm sick of hearing all these unrealistic trades scenarios to get him, we are very unlikely to get him imo, he is a required player for the power and a real up and coming star, unless he desp wants to come why would they want to trade him?

Seeing as i cant start new threads i thought i would post here.

Rumours will not go away that Travis Boak wants to come to Carlton.
Now at the start i thought this was all wish wash and typical bigfooty shit.
But when i continuesly hear things linked to this, it makes me wonder.

1. Boak's family are religious Carlton supporters as was Boak when he was a kid.
2. Port have asked about Hadley in a deal involving Boak, not sure if this means they have conceded to losing him but its what i hear.
3. Boak doesnt like Adelaide and is suffering what we call 'Homesickness. He is keen to come back to his family and play out his boyhood dream of playing for the Blues.

Now im not saying all this is 100% fact becoz i dont know, but these are the things i am continuously hearing. Im not sure on his contract status but if he wants to go back home, surely port will let him go if they cannot convince him to stay.

Having said all this, what would it take to get him?

Im thinking

Hadley, Jacobs and pick 27?
It's because of posts like this that access to this board should be limited ;)

So you will give us a hack, a dud, and a shit draft pick, for a star.

LMAO.

Hadley wont go... He came back to be with family didnt he??
Any more news on BBB Barry Hall??

Hadley's from WA

He left Brissy because he had been injured for 2 years and wanted a fresh start, and he thought that the young Blues list was very exciting.

Hasn't probably got the opportunities at Carlton that he had hoped for, and probably hasn't received the greatest run from the MC.

Not the greatest info for you but on the HS site under Carlton you will find a season review chat with Sam Edmund. Open the chat and at 2:04 there is this quote

Wouldn't have thought so Duane. Ratten has emphatically ruled out Barry Hall and pointed to staying on the youth track so Robbo would be a massive long shot to be approached. Carlton don't really need a player like him.

For mine, the guys we actually want to trade have absolutely no trade value, e.g. Fisher, Hartlett, Bentick, Jacobs, Wiggins plus a few more. A set of steak knives comes to mind as we'd need to package up 5+ of them to get a deal done!

Sorry, it is laughable some of the trade suggestion. Boak is a star in the making. Would take really good trade value to get him to move

I agree, If youy want Boak you have to give up either very good pick(s) or player(s).

I also laugh when people expect to get a quality player for a player that hasn't played a game all year.

C'mon people, think before posting. Put yourself in the other position before you make stupid statements.

If you're serious about Boak - trade Russell and 11 for him.

Three buckets of shit won't buy you a bucket of gold.

And Boak was a pick 5-6?

Why trade for anything of lesser value?

We have put time into him, he's improved in that time.

He is worth a top 10 and someone decent, or a top 5 pick.

Coming from a mutual perspective this my take on it: If Boak is desperate to go to Carlton then Port would want either a top 5 pick, or Carlton would have to somehow improve their pick 12 and give up a good young player (ill let others do the speculating), not somebody who doesn't get a game ie Jacobs/Bentick

I don't think you should equate these two players.

Jacobs' value is high this year in trade week. A very good tap ruckman who would have played most games this year if he did not get injured. An excellent start to the year and a good finish in the Ants (only lacking enough weeks to make it into the senior team).

Jacobs would be a very good addition to Port. He is an SA boy and would be their number one tap ruckman. And Carlton may try to do the right thing by him if it's view is that he will be fourth in line behind Warnock, Kreuzer and Hampson.

Pick 11 plus Jacobs should be very attractive to Port. Or Russell and Jacobs.

Wasnt that quote about Russell Robertson and not Big Bazza ? Robbo and Baza are two different players, and Hall is exactly the kind of player we need... Why not get him for two years while we develop a young KPP we snare using Pick 11 ?

Having Baz in the same forward line as Fev would be lethal and would surely cause a few nightmares for opposition clubs... Dont forget that unlike Robbo and Lloyd, despite him being 32, Hall was still playing good footy this year (averaged 3 goals a game).. His inclusin in our forward line can be the difference between trying to sneak into the top 4, and being a genuine top 4 chance...
Look at how Dew helped the Hawks in 2008 (cast your mind back to his 3rd qtr burst in the GF). He's been and gone in 2 years, but his presence and experience was crucial and helped pinch them a flag...

Would've thought that this bit
Ratten has emphatically ruled out Barry Hall and pointed to staying on the youth track
was speaking about Hall.

Not denying your argument though as it has some basis.

Ive started a thread on the Carlton board outlining the pros and cons of drafting Hall to Carlton.

Essentially covers everything mentioned above... and he comes cheap (super cheap).

Ratts was asked (from left field) whether the Club would consider making a play for Hall the week Hall retired.

His answer was 'No.' and it was left at that.

Whether that was Ratts making an off the cuff statement (deflecting heat from a big victorian club making its first run at the finals for 7 years and not needing any other distractions or media speculation) or a well thought out statement of fact after consultation with the MC is still to be determined.

I for one hope we draft Hall.
