Grigg's body language was terrible last season. Looked disinterested, and frustrated. His tagging effort on Judd in the 2nd game, was one of the meekest performances I'd seen in 2011. You'd think he'd want to "make a statement" against his former club. He just wilted. Well I guess he achieved his goal of playing more senior games and landing a 1 mill over 3 year contract.

:)

Meh it's a trot around the park. It's means very little when the whips are cracking come September.

I'd rather they skip the running and just practice goal kicking. Can't recall a season where I've been sooooo frustrated with our set shots and easy misses.

I love this kind of thread but i don't have the time right now to read it all for the info I want.

Can anyone tell me what the distance of the time trial was? Also any other recorded times and what kind of fitness work they have been doing? Also if available any records of their weight sessions - kg lifted / reps etc...

Thanks a lot.

Yep, I agree - fitness.......who needs it!?!?!

Now now... :D

Judd and Carrazzo will be running rings around their opponents come R22, irrespective of their time trial placings in January. Not only do the better 'acclimatised' boys have the miles in their legs, they also know how to avoid general fatigue and how to load their training.

I think it's encouraging, nonetheless.

Supposedly Warnock is an 'elite runner' (source - Andy Maher ;)) - Anyone have an idea of his placing, if he ran?

Guys like Judd, Walker etc have nothing to prove in a 3k time trail. Newbys on the other hand have a fair bit to in terms of application at the very least.

Doesn't surprise me that some of them are up the front, has happened at a few other clubs too.

Cheers Harks, I knew you'd be good for an update! Not really what I wanted to hear at this time of year to be honest :-|

Do you reckon they're gearing up for a big one tomorrow?

And sorry - are you querying what is meant by 'peeps'?

Harker, you are a deadset legend!!! Thanks for the update and all the great feedback you have provided all pre-season. It is invaluable! :thumbsu:

Thanks Harks.

I remember Lucas as being very quick in his first few games for the club. Pretty sure he's pushing 190 cm's so he's a good size too.

Speed and how much a lack of it will hurt Mclean is the thing isn't it.
I was watching the AFL game anayliser the other day and watching that silly blind turn Watts did in front of Mclean really highlighted that Mac has virtually no acceleration at all.

Been alot of talk on the boards about 3km time trials lately and I remember Mclean beating Judd home in his first pre-season at the club but nobody runs k after k at a constant speed in a game.

I will admit I will be surprised if he gets alot of game time this year.

Works perfect TG :thumbsu:

An odd thing today was that the coaches pulled up Bower because they weren't happy with the way he was running.
The hand gestures indicated that Bower was lifting his legs up too high and that they wanted more smoothness in his running action.

Link works TG. Thanks. :thumbsu:
That image of Curnow is the way he looks almost all session. Very determined.

Having done alot of running in my time a high knee lift as a part of a 'normal' running gait is not only exhaustive but does put unnecessary strain into the quads so given his history it makes sense.

Bootsma. I think we've landed ourselves yet another gem that slipped under everyone's radar. We seem to have better WA talent scouts than the local Freagles teams which is pretty funny. Same deal with Jeff Garlett.

:)

I was talking about for his age and where he is going, he will be a lot bigger and stronger than simpson for example and possibly Lucas. I wouldn't worry at all about what he does this year, I don't think he wil play this year. I recon he might play a couple of games next year but for him it is all about his third season.
