i like the meltdowns over a pre-season game. Quite amusing. Don't worry about going nuts over negatives, only focus on the positives and the boys getting a run in the legs
Positive: we get to put a line through people for round 1, instead of having our heads in our hands at half time on the night

Ridiculous. Yet to see any "meltdown", and the "negatives" are the things that we need to improve in the next few weeks.

I don't see any meltdowns. I really wish we could stop conflating genuine criticism with meltdowns.

6 goal run by the Aints. Honestly that's just unacceptable and I don't want to see another season of that rubbish. Saw enough under Teague.

Are you suggesting that Voss has lost the players?

criticisms in a pre-season match that doesn't mean hardly anything...............that is a meltdown. These games are just to try things for the coming season.

There's nothing wrong with making observations on players, especially players with exposed form in previous years.

Coaches are trying players all over the park - interesting to see Setterfield start on a wing - understandable nervy actions from fringe players like LoB/Boyd/Philp/Durdin Saints best in Q2 versus Calton with a few tryouts....totally different connection on display - or lack of..

Saints did lift their pressure, but we dropped off and stopped running back to plug holes in front of the leading lanes. Players also went from bring teammates into play, to trying to bite off too much

Concerns: Gov as a defender. LOB struggling with the tempo of the game, still not a lock for a starting 22. Durdin will improve, but was really nervous/rushed, Boyd similar. We let the opposition spread/open up the ground way too easy

Good: Philp showed some good glimpses, OMac positioned well, needed more support from our 3rd/mid size defenders. Hewett did the grunt work well, Cerra generally smooth

What happen to the run and overlap and swarm -- looked like us of old -- when ball transition defence all at see still running around with no purpose looking at each other ..
thought Pitto would be able to really dominate today against there ruck - maybe needs the run also doesn't help playing two slow mids with him -- maybe Kennedy should be break glass option throughout the year - if dow isn't in front of him he is in for long year in the 2's --
Next week should be a better guide

Rubbish. Players and systems can be critiqued in a pre-season match. In fact, given the result doesn't matter, the players and systems are exactly the things that do.

Bad kicking is bad football. 5 behinds in a quarter is something we are use to really.

but it is a new year and a new system. Got to give it time to settle. Imagine if we kicked 5 goals instead of 5 behinds that quarter.....the thread would be full of praise
