GC would be mad to give up 4+5 if they those picks.

Especially when there's two King brothers available around there.

Lukosious + 2nd rounder VS King + Walsh/Smith/Hill etc

I am a huge Luko fan but think that Luko>King would be less of a downgrade than pick 4/5>2nd rounder

Having said that, Lukosious might fit in better with Wright up at GC and be that superstar they need.

Still don't see it happening.

Never stop dreaming though.

Agreed.

If a guy like Lukosius was a NT, outer country kid, then it makes sense, as there is no real go home factor.

Why would you take the risk on one kid, when you could have 2 bites of the cherry

If SOS, was offered that deal, he would sign it in a flash

Actually that's a very good point. It would almost be worthwhile them taking both of them to help alleviate the flight risk, much like Adelaide did with the Crouch brothers. Though that one turned out that the less rated of the two became the better player, so it worked out on both fronts. I think they'd probably rather keep the picks and do that.

Though us taking Kings, as well as the Curnows and Sivlagnis in one team would be something to see. 3 sets of brothers in one team, has that ever happened before?

They would be negligent if they did that. Still some very good key forwards and mids at 4 and 5.

Would you be happy to give up 4&5 for 1, if it was us?

I don't think we can compare the two clubs - they operate in very different landscapes.

The Suns traded pick 2 for Lachie Weller and a 3rd round pick. I'd have been livid if Carlton did that, but the Suns struggle to attract talent and were prepared to pay overs for a young kid who actually wants to play for them.

No, I would not be happy if Carlton traded picks 4 and 5 for pick 1 and say pick 25. But again, we are not the Suns, and if Lukosius expresses a strong desire to head up there and be the new face of the franchise, and they don't get the same vibe from others in the 4-5 draft range, I believe they may be open to overpaying.

The 2 SA clubs are the only clubs that will pay through the nose for Lukosius, for obvious reasons. Gold Coast would be mad to over invest in any draftee considering retention problems. No way would they trade 4 & 5 for 1.

The very reason they over invested in Weller was because he was a local who WANTED to go there.

Imo, whoever gets Pick 1 will be offered a big bounty by the SA clubs, whether it is big enough remains to be seen though.

Adelaide: 10, 16 ,19 and Bryce Gibbs ;)

If Suns want our Pick 1 for Lukosius then you will definitely milk it for everything they have got or no deal.

Pick 4 + 5 + Fiorini

Pick 1 + Pick 30

I would downgrade Pick 1 to Saints or WB for Pick 3-5, with that pick I would take Walsh or Smith. These are the 2 teams that could do with a marquee key forward and will likely have a pick in the range. To do the deal they would need to include a player, neither have 2nd round picks.

Finally!! This is the type of strategy that is sound. Target players at either club as part of the deal, while still retaining a strong had in the draft

A lot of assumptions around us having number 1 pick. I reckon Gold Coast will end up bottom.

What player from Dogs/Saints would we want as part of deal?

If we don't get pick 1 then we will be looking at Walsh, Smith, Hatley, Collier-Dawkins ?

Agreed a fair few assumptions and a bit to play out, I too don't believe we will finish last. Any number of talented kids at the Saints or Dogs, could be part of a shuffle back of a couple of picks.

I would look at any of Walsh, B. King or Rozee if we had pick 2-3. Smith I rate, while Hately is an accumulator, but he doesn't have a strong enough hurt factor at this stage for me and would rather look at a Valente, Sparrow type in the second round. Need to see more of Collier-Dawkins before I can rate him properly.

Give me names you think they would trade along with that high pick for a number 1 pick?

I like Smith as well. Look forward to this weekends U18 champ matches.

If either side were desparate to secure a KPF, like Lukosius, a number players could come up

Saints - Billings or Gresham or Newnes
Dogs - (Slightly different concept) - Dunkley or Young etc, then if we were to lose Murphy and not wanting to impact on the compensation, Dahihaus or Wallis could be part of the deal

Not saying it is perfect, but it would be better than giving up to early picks for a Wines

Personally I would rather go to the draft and target FA

Definitely go to the draft, then try to rectify list deficiencies via possible FAs.
We have salary cap mobility and experts to take advantage of our position.
Also more space will be created, list is trimmed end season.

Couldn't get those names with a second or a couple of seconds ?
