Couldn't get those names with a second or a couple of seconds ?

Possibly, but we could also combined our second rounders for a pick around 10-14

Lose: Pick 1 + 2 x 2nd round picks

Gain: Gresham (example only), pick 3, pick 12

But I would rather go to the draft with our original early picks, unless a better deal emerged

Will leave it the same for now, from April, until after the carnival

A quick top 10, as of now (Not including F/S, Academy, NGA)

Lukosius
Rozee
Walsh

B. King
M. King
Rankine
Bytel
Caldwell
Hately
Smith

You may not have them in your preferred order, but just can't get away from those three names for the CFC.
Just seem to fit in seamlessly. :)

I still can't get into Hately or Rankine and not the Kings on because we have to start backing & developing the talls we already have.
Lukosius is tall but a very different beast, one can't deny.

Look forward to what we present in a couple of months time, but I have a feeling Dawkins-Collier may end up high on my want list.

They are in order, as how i currently rank them.

Not a fan of Hately and despite where many rate him, if his hurt factor doesn't improve per possession, for the rest of the year, he will slide in my eyes

Ben King continues to grow for me, he might be the only one that will come close to Lukosius

The top 10 must be incredible this year, given a lot of posters are rating Rankine anywhere outside of the top 2. Looking forward to see the Victorian teams play, but Lukosius and Rankine certainly didn't disappoint in the game against WA. They are simply insanely talented.

If Ollie is getable then next years 1st IS on the table...

I dont think it would be. It will still be 1-6. Sos would trade out surplus once it becomes clearer who fits.

I think he has a clear direction. We have heard Judd and Bolts reinforce it. We are staying the path. It gets told over and over. And that path it, take best available youth with our early pick, trade off later picks for players we require.

We need mids now. If he wants to come home we will grab him...

CEO has said we need players in 24-26 bracket and we WILL be in the free agents market this year...

If we climb the ladder next year Ollie will be a steal!!!

Time to pull the trigger and announce ourselves....

Concerns on both being ‘home boys’...

Luko is a machine and a franchise player, once in a generation is what I’ve heard from ....

We need to fill a few sections of the ground.

It will be interesting to see when we will start shifting from draft picks to established players.

I would not mind going into this draft using our picks and then next year onwards getting some more mature bodies from other teams.

Agree this year or next, its time to look into it.

I've only watched highlights so take it with a grain of salt, BUT:
  1. People said the same thing about Boyd...Weitering...Gibbs
  2. Forwards especially can get nice numbers in the TAC due to the different rules, namely you can't have a loose man back
Having said that, I'd really love Lukosious, but not sure if I want him enough to pay a wooden spoon for him.

I dont subscribe to the "we need mids now so we need to pull the trigger". Of course we need mids. And we will continue to each and every year.

Add:
Docherty, Kennedy, Williamson, Pickett to our team next year.
Add another pre season to Dow, SPS, O'Brien, Lang, Fisher, Cuningham, Polson, Silvagni.

Dow next year or the year after could be our Wines for all we know. Not saying we can't have 2 but with Kennedy traded into the team and Cripps being Cripps, i feel this will rectify itself quiet quickly.

We aren't really missing any pieces of the puzzle. Maybe a small high pressure forward would be more than handy. But i feel this draft and next will set us up for the next decade.

If we could add Lloyd from Sydney with a late 1st or something similar, watch the flow on effect.

Our 1st pick (while its a top 5 pick) will certainly draft best available. Wines is great but even ms3 said today we wouldn't trade this years 1st. And i have no doubt because we wont play finals next year, we will continue our stratergy.

Let's face it. If we did add wines this year with next years pick, we still won't be playing finals. We will add the cream when we are nearing the top. FAs around the 26 year old bracket is where we will add experience along with SOS specials. Not a top 5 pick

Anyone else want to put their pre champs gut feel thoughts down yet?

My very initial ranking:

1. Lukosius
2. Walsh
3. Smith
4. Rankine
5. B.King
6. Thomas
7. M.King
8. Blakey
9. Rozee
10. Williams

1. The Next Nick Riewoldt
2. Muscly goal-kicking mid, billed as Dusty 2.0
3. Tall mid, billed as the next Cripps
4. Academy kid, reignites anti-academy rage
5. Ruckman-sized KPF
6. HFF who never develops into a midfielder
7. Bolter
8. Slider
9. Kid with a heart-warming backstory
10. Accumulator with poor kicking skills
11. Slider who tanked interviews to stay in SA
