If we must 'balance the list', I'd be putting the likes of 'not enough love for...', Kerr and De Koning on notice first (unless the latter is being groomed as a ruckman) because at their best, they offer less than Mckay. You never trade from the top down unless you are desperate and you already know the limitations of what you are trading out. I reckon Brissy had Schache sussed and he was sending out mixed messages. I think injury and lack of opportunity suggest that McKay may still have a lot of development left in him and we really don't know what we'd risk giving up.
The way I see it is he has never "had it". He wasn't even a dominant junior. He was somewhat of a development player who has some amazing attributes that could see him develop into an excellent player.
On the list makeup you are right it is and will become even more unbalanced if we take BSOS and Lukosius at end of this season. I think the end of next year we will make decisions on all of Casboult, Rowe, O'Shea, McKay, Kerr, Lobbe so things can change very quickly just not this season imo. (ASOS and GM most likely gone this year)
If we have pick 1, I don't think we'll trade it. If we end up with a pick >1, I'd say maybe.Playstation time. Would you guys take say Adelaides pick 8, next years 1st and your pick 19 back for pick 1???
Yeah for Lukocious. If we have pick 1, I don't think we'll trade it. If we end up with a pick >1, I'd say maybe.
But I guess you'd just be offering that deal to whichever team had pick 1.
I missed the first
I really doubt we will end up with pick 1, I think it will be the Saints. In any case, I think the crows will need to stump up picks in this years draft if they want pick 1. The Saints just aren't going to hand over pick 1 for an unknown draft pick next year when you will have serious firepower in the draft to get the job done. If you want pick 1, you will have to pay overs for it (and with the strength of this draft I can't imagine the saints accepting anything other than draft picks for this year).Playstation time. Would you guys take say Adelaides pick 8, next years 1st and your pick 19 back for pick 1???

Where do I sign? How about picks 8 and 9 (Sloane compo) this year for 1 ?
That's what it would take for the crows to get pick 1 in my opinion. How about picks 8 and 9 (Sloane compo) this year for 1 ?
I find this really insightful - nice post Harks. (It also helps that I completely and utterly agree )H.Mckay is an interesting one.
He does come across as someone who may get ahead of himself, which can be OK.
He may just have to recalibrate and accept the reality, in that he has to work a lot harder than he may have thought he had to.
How many players have gone through the same cycle and come good? Answer = Plenty.
I feel he has it in him but can understand some thinking he hasn't. I rated him a 5/10 to become a regular and influential player.
Nothing has changed, really. He's a 50/50 to me.
Where do I sign?
I think you may have assumed that the poster is worrying? (Although he may be....)I wouldn t worry. He had the same passionate views about Cripps. Too slow , will never make it.
I think we both know he is not actually saying that as a 100% certainty, don’t we? The other comments around it do suggest he is not..... no judgement. Just a thoughtI call BS . Thats being dogmatic
Really interesting way to look at it. I’m in the camp you just described.People writing H off lol
He's 20/11. That's baby years for a 200cm player.
My God. So funny.
And he has an attitude?? No harm in that. All the good KPFs had a healthy ego.
Seriously some of you need to get a life!!
Yes, a lot to still play out. There is every chance that picks 8 & 9 wouldn't be enough even. If Lukosius is seen as a sure bet I don't see anyone accepting anything less than a king's ransome for him. Looking at our draw in the run home compared to the Saints, I just don't see us having the pick anyway.I'm not so sure about that.
It's a wait and see.... A. Whether we have the one B. What will be available at those picks 8&9.
It's a maybe and maybe not call at this stage. Wouldn't be signing off on anything just yet.
Is the answer..... Fisher?!Sounds Fisher-esque...
Anyone specific in the AFL you'd liken him to?
Not this year.Playstation time. Would you guys take say Adelaides pick 8, next years 1st and your pick 19 back for pick 1???

In this years draft??? Not enough. If I'm giving up Lukosius then one of those needs to be Top 5.How about picks 8 and 9 (Sloane compo) this year for 1 ?
He's just a very good all-round footballer like Sloane. Maybe not quite the amount of contested ball as Sloane (54%), but much stronger in the air and just as damaging. You get the idea.Sounds Fisher-esque...

I'll have to reserve judgement on that one until after the Nationals me thinks.Tom Sparrow for me, but think he will now be gone, before our 2nd rounder pick.
15-20 tange looking likely

Jesus Christ obviously it's dependent on getting one.
It's hypothetical.
But if we do have one, personally I'd take 8 and 9 if on offer.
Reason is... The draft is a numbers game and this is a deep draft esp for mids which is our main need.
Give me...
8
9
24
26
... And we take a plethora of mids.
It's a chance to go BANG and recruit a midfield in one swoop.
This is how you build lists.
All the good sides had one or two key drafts where they brought in a raft of talent.
And if MM leaves it could be...
8
9
19
24
26
Where's do I sign?
