What a stupid position the AFL has put itself into; 'You can have it but maybe you can't and we'll decide on that later, but we don't really know on what grounds'

Stupidity and they're digging a deeper and deeper rabbit hole for themselves as they go along.

It’s almost like the AFL want them to trade it now for immediate gain and so it can’t be taken off them in future ;)

Anyone want to have a shot at where Stocker would fit into this draft?
Always hard to gauge as somehow players that haven't been exposed to AFL are somehow better than for those that have. :)
Rowell, Anderson and maybe Green would be seen to be the better players even at this stage, but who else?

For Carlton I feel that Serong would have been a good get, but it sure seems to me that we've done very, very well out of our trade last year.
Personally I think Stocker has a few more tools to work with than Serong does. I see Serong as a neat player with good skills while Stocker is a good user with both feet & should be a bull around the ball. He seems to have good leadership skills as well.

(On a side note Arrow and other Sharp fans, he is getting a heap of attention from recruiters behind the scenes.)
Of course clubs are looking at him, absolutely mad not to make sure of the reasons the fraternity have seemingly blackballed him.

Going through some old threads...that Bamboo Harvester fella sure has some foresight....this was from November 2018, nearly a year ago, from a Phantom Draft thread. Pure genius :drunk:

Sam Fisher to the the Wobbles??? Harker, you have a lot to answer for :p

By the way, no one picked up Michael Gibbons yet? Thought we may have gone for him with our last pick given Harker pinched Sammy Fisher from under our noses :D

Hi all

Has anyone herd of a possible trade that would see Gaff at Carlton?

Would you take?

https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/10/07/carltons-big-fish-could-help-tim-kelly-become-an-eagle/

There have been rumblings, but nothing concrete from any of our ITK's atm. So I'd say it's not completely off the cards, but still unlikely at this stage.

But as we all know, a week is a long time in footy, even more so when it's trade period!

EDIT: And yes, if we can get a deal done without jeopardising our other main trades, then of course we'd take Gaff.

General Draft related -

Had a discussion/argument with a fellow Carlton supporter regarding what our younger players may be worth should they be traded.
Our thoughts differed quite a bit. There's a lot of things to take into account but assuming the following:

1. We use this or next years draft when coming up with draft picks.
2. We assume that it's a club that has highlighted the need and approached our players and not us selling them off. The player also wishes to leave.

What could we fairly and reasonably ask for:

1. CCurnow
2. Weitering
3. Walsh
4. Petrevski-Seton
5. McKay
6. Fisher

So all contracted I’ll take it.
For me (in the next two drafts) the top 3 would have to be a top 2 pick this year and a later first rounder.
SPS A top ten and a future second.
McKay top 5 and a pick inside 20.
Fisher probably a pick inside 22 or so.

It’s hard to judge without knowing how adamant they would be on leaving. Also if it’s money related, say they were getting a million a year offer and we knew we were going to lose them in the future anyway because of that reason then you probably take a little less then otherwise. A Tom Bell situation would also make you take less then you would otherwise.

Currently, as of today, given the upcoming draft?

1. CCurnow --- 2 mid/latish 1sts + a mid 2nd
2. Weitering --- 2 mid 1sts
3. Walsh ----- 2 picks inside 8
4. Petrevski-Seton ---- mid/late 1st
5. McKay ---- 2 mid 1sts
6. Fisher ----- latish 1st

Me valuing retaining mature players hitting their prime than draft picks, putting onus on other clubs to drag our players out:

1. CCurnow: pick 3-5 + pick 12-15

2. Weitering: pick 1-3 + pick 12-15

3. Walsh: pick 1-3 + pick 3-5

4. Petrevski-Seton: pick 3-5 + pick 15-20

5. McKay: pick 3-5 + pick 12-15

6. Fisher: pick 10
