Ch 10 has reported that Caracella will go into the draft because the Lions cannot pay him the money he is asking.
I will be sorry to see him go but rather him than Hadley or Notting

Bugger so much for the story a few months back "i'm really settled here, want to prove myself, hope to see out my career"

I guess his fat essendon contract ended and reality bites.

At a guess, what do you think he would be asking?

Can't remember, apart from it was supposed to be fairly big. That's why Essendon got rid of him, and a couple of others. I know he had at least one , probably two years left on it - dont remember hearing any 'essendon going to pay part of his contract' type rumours at the time.

Agree rather keep notting hadley and keating.

If he leaves to place himself on the draft rather than stay with us.....then I can say with confidence it was always about the money...

It sure is a shame if he goes.I thought all players were wanted and could be kept under the cap.So someone is holding out for more money to stay, if we are losing one player, or maybe that player is the one holding out for more money.Who knows.

I hate this time of the year.

He'd want to think hard about it if that's the case. Blake is a beautifully skilled player and a clear thinker,... but that doesn't get you kicks in an ordinary side.

Paul Hudson comes to mind as a very handy player for the Dogs when they were a good side playing finals - polished skills to finish off the hard work put in further upfield. But when the side started to struggle from about 2000 onward, he could do little about it and got the flick down to a struggling Tigerland, where things went from bad to worse.

Carrot Seller's kinda like a diamond-studded head cover for your 3 iron. Really nice to have, but next to useless if you don't have a good club.

Whoa, nice analogy xplo!!! :D

Media beat up again perhaps? Slow news time of year? Do you guys believe everything that the media speculates about or that is thrown out there?

case 1 - Ash McGrath this year - end result, STAYS
case 2 - Lynchy end of 2003 - end result, STAYED
case 3 - Aka end of 2003 or 2002 when it was revealed he might have been going to Sydney - end result, STAYED

99 times out of 100 this time of year, media reports are either the result of pure bulldust generated by the media for fodder, or player managers throwing out lines that "they might be leaving" as leverage with contract negotiations.

Only believe what is factual between the last Saturday in September and round one of the following year. - ie when they report "he has signed" or "he has registered for the draft". that way you can't go wrong...

Ya I get the feeling he will get drafted back by the bombers if he leaves the lions. but it would be a shame to see him go.

And i loved Xplo's analogy on him!, he is a very good player when on the receiving end and the team is flying high but when the going gets tough, he is nowhere to be found.

reminds me of how great des headland was when our gun midfield was feeding lots of quality possession to him - but when he moved to fremantle he started to look pretty ordinary

Exactly.A friend of my sisters in melbourne said they saw Blake down there, has he already moved back????

no he hasnt moved back. He's had a series of opperations in melb. I think you will find any melb move would be for family reasons not money.

If that is the case, why did he say he wanted to stay?
