I’ll take the compliment and run with it.Lampers you are the expert here when it comes to VFL form. Who would you pick to go in and out of the seniors side?
I don’t think VFL form is super relevant because they will more be looking for who knows the role(s) available in the AFL side.
There are so many things that could happen through shuffling the 23 who played Brisbane (minus Salem) to dropping or injury management (Brown, Oliver) that means what gaps are left in the AFL team are hard to project.
I’ll try to keep it simple though and have the next in lines based on what I saw.
Tall forward it needs to be Fullarton. I haven’t been dazzled with how he plays, but he can’t do much more than what he showed last week as a tall forward who can ruck. They need to expose him at AFL level some time.
There is very little in the backline for Salem’s injury. Even though he’s only one game off a long lay off Turner was solid on his return, so if his fitness is OK then I’d say it’s him. Moniz-Wakefield I think is a long way off as a defender.
For a mid the only viable one would be Laurie. His ball use for mine was not up to his usual standard, but he had a massive number of tackles and found the ball. He’s also next in line so I think it will be between he and Woewodin in the 23.
The two players that got me most excited - partly because I suspect my expectations were low - were Sestan and Kynan Brown. But I don’t see how they get an opportunity.
Pickett obviously comes back, but if another small forward was needed I think Brown is more likely impact at AFL level than Sestan.
