Looking forward to this week's podcast.

At this stage, a Wednesday evening recording because Ben thinks if it's recorded at night, he can work a deeper shade of blue than the aqua I allow him to work at.

The leaking of goals in bursts is still an issue. The fact that we have been able to recover from it is really good... but we need to arrest the momentum sooner IMO if we are going to go deep in Sept especially with our record in Finals and teams getting a run over us.

Still, it was amazing contributions across the board from pretty much everyone in great win on a monsterous occasion.

Not much more to say about #14 but it was awesome to see him run the square to acknowledge the supporters.
That moment was only bettered by KROCK getting Hawkins AND Selwood on at once for the post game interview. The genuine appreciation and rapport bw players and you blokes was on show for everyone to see and it was great. Kudos to all. Great interview.

As for this week -disappointed to see VFL side out of Finals contention. Gonna make it harder to keep players 24-30 match fit when we are potentially gonna need them. Not ideal.

Still in favour of getting Blitz a breather and now Ceglar has loosely held his own id be wanting to get Blitz a break. I know CS says he's a mid that can ruck and defend but his work up and back is insane and will be an essential piece for us that no other side can replicate.
Which game is of preference to rest - GC or WC at home? If we wait for WC then we know where we sit but is 2 weeks off too much? (Rd 23 plus the bye)

I'm assuming at this point of the podcast there's nothing left to say about Joel, you're probably 3 hours in.

Question: intensity pattern in our games has shifted a bit recent weeks I think. Up until 3 weeks ago I think we were winning 1st and 2nd quarters, losing the 3rd, then breaking even or winning the 4th. Now we're losing the first quarter and leaving it to comeback late. Anything in that or am I chasing butterflies?

Another interesting game and good win. Dogs hit up short targets first qtr but we tidied that up, wrestled momentum back til half time then went bang.
SDK Got the bubbles and the rubber ducky out as he gave naughton a bath. Credit must go to the back 6 and midfield to pressure inside 50s but this kid has completely changed our dynamic
Zac Guthrie another classy performance, he’s gone from the skinny kid from the Simpson that always looks sick to a poor man’s hulk hogan lookalike
Well done to the alphabet on game 150. Can turn it over occasionally but I think we need him taking the second tall forward as we get closer to the pointy end.

Afternoon gents,

It’s hard to stop yourself thinking about what might be coming in our near future. Many finals loses do bring us back to earth but I’m genuinely excited.

Are we to get excited for Ceg-tember? Was very rusty early on but worked into the game well especially in that 3rd quarter. Thought his tap craft was outstanding, not sure if you noticed but sometimes he tapped to a spot and was seen yelling and pointing to players who were not where they should have been. Has a bit of grunt in him which was great to see. Be an interesting watch.

Went down Saturday night with a mate, stayed the night, after the game went into St Marrys club rooms for a few refreshments, followed a few frothies at The Cremorne..

As I follow the Ovens & Murray Football League and there was the Hall of Fame inductions on the weekend.
Watching the videos on Facebook and I'm hearing familiar voice talking about the inductes ... Is that you Kingy?

Plus I always like hearing which players were reported were linked to..
Any inside info on us with Hopper and De Goey ?

So I and a couple mates were thinking ok if we were coaching against Geelong, how or where do you find the weaknesses to beat them. And to clarify we aren’t saying Geelong are unbeatable. We were in agreement that teams could target 2 areas. Geelong at clearances and also target the wingers of Geelong especially smith and Holmes. Thoughts and thanks as always.

A lot of cat fans are critical of Miers but I think he an important cog in our forward line. The synergy between the 3 smalls is unbelievable.
Miers being the connecter from backline.
Close being the distributor in the forward line and
Stengel the finisher.
All 3 bring strong defensive pressure on top of that.
Your thoughts.

's contract status? When he re-signed last year, it was widely believed to have been a one year extension, and he seems to be listed as out of contract this season, but the following was published last month which indicates it was a 2-year deal, and is causing some confusion

A good win on the back of good work by some of the lesser lights. I thought the Ukrainian Greco Roman wrestler Kolodjashnij played his best game of the year. Whilst he does occasionally turn one over, in terms of team structure, I think he’s gotta stay in. Taller forward lines require him to be second key defender. Zac Guthrie also keeps stepping up, and the man who gets the cream ready, whipping boy miers with 3 goal assist.
Big Rhys was beaten in hit outs but laying 7 tackles showed he was competing when the ball hit the deck.
Gunna be some tough selection calls come qualifying final, so think Menegola could be one who struggles simply to missing most of year
Finish with a joke, don’t worry Kingy it’s a good clean joke
2 Guys stole a calendar… they ended up getting 6 months each.

Dangerfield, Selwood, Rohan, Blitz coming back in. How on earth do you turn that 26 into 22? I'm struggling with it.

Frustration from the saints game for me was seeing us turn it over in f50 on multiple occasions and it felt like most of them were 40-50m out near direct in front. We are playing on automatically and moving it forward to get the entries but smart teams know we're bashing straight through the corridor and are often set up with extras back.

Does this make us too predictable to well coached teams?

seems increasingly unreliable in front of goal when typically he is extremely accurate. Might this be due to his role expanding to moving up the ground meaning he is more fatigued when taking his shots? Hard to explain his inaccuracy….?!

Iv started putting the TV commentary on mute and playing KRock threw the AFL app..
Can you guys put it to the AFL media rights to see in the new TV rights deal if they can pick which commentary you can listen to. Like picking radio commentary in KRock?

Anyway half time I was very pleased to hear Obree talking about the VFL game and hearing the good reports about Esava playing CHB? I did ask you boys earlier this season in regarding him playing in defence as I personally didn't have faith in him in our team playing forward. I do hope he can take this with 2 hands, as we are screaming out for another Key Defender, could be the next Tom Lonergan
