Caulfield Cup Day - Tips and Stuff

Our Maharaja is yet to win anything anywhere near group 2 level, but I can't help but fancy his chances with a 6.5 kilo weight drop after sticking on very well against Gold Edition last start.
Looks like starting at $15+ in a race lacking any standout star.

I also think King Of Ashford's ready to run a half-decent race. 10 of 10 last start doesn't look all that great, but he was never suited at the mile and still finished within 4 lengths of Divine Madonna and co.
Just about won this race last year, and with no Trick of Light it looks a much weaker bunch this time around.

KOA is another who is dropping back from a Gp1 to a Gp 3.
I backed it last week & it was in front at the 300m.

Race 3 No 10 Zacroona.
Can't believe I'm tipping a Hamilton Maiden winner on Caulfield Cup day, but it was quite impressive. This horses last 200 was incredible, anyone that saw it had to be impressed. Just sprouted wings after being under pressure from the top of the straight, & rattled home. Extremely well bred Zabeel-Singalong. This maybe a reasonable type, & although rising in grade I think its worth a punt.

Edit - Now Green Mankini is out even more in his favour.

I saw the Zabeel one in Bobby and was dissapointed I didn't see it's first run as I make a habit of tracking his first runners. Mine in that 3rd race (the O'Reilly) didn't smash them (in fact I thought he got out head-bobbed) but jeez he did a lot of work for his win. The extra distance and experience will suit both!
I hope one of them gets up as it'd be a good start for either of us at those odds!

I've watched the replay of Kingsford's win & it also was impressive. Did do a lot of work when caught wide but just kept grinding.
Zacroona was a more brilliant type of win, just sprouted wings over the last 200.
I have also watched Teskara's last win & while it had a dream run, it did sprint away like a good horse.
Very competitive race which maybe a good pointer to the future.

didn't place:eek:
where'd she finish?

Midfield? What could she do? Dunn sits her last on the fence spotting the leaders half a furlong, when everything starts making there runs, he's still sitting back. When the whole field fans he is still looking for a run. Hell he could of at least kicked the horse up to tack on but nope, just sits there. Finally urges it when they straigten up with nowhere to go. Still passed half the field.

Great ride on 2.00 favourite. How much the bookies pay him to throw the race? I'm serious.

What % do you have ?

I hope Steve Moran is wrong as he is on Soaressa which is one of 2 horses i don't have in the quaddie. But knowing my luck it'll win HA HA

I had Soaressa, Mistake Creek, La Chasseuse & Star Rose in the 4th leg. Spewing Soaressa didn't make it, but nonetheless stoked to get a share of the NSW quaddie.
