Enthusiastic reactions on Twitter from Sam Lane, Debbie Lee and Michelle Cowan (not in order of stature, just the order I read them) - our new CEO has impressed people in football over the journey and not just men’s football. Lane said Watt was big behind the scenes in setting up AFLW, and Cowan said it’s great she is back hands on in the industry.

But what did " Corn " say ?

" North, after last night's draft failure with Sheezel & Wardlaw have now appointed a CEO who has not played a game in her life "

What's more, we now have a football department that includes Brady Rawlings, Todd Viney, Scott Clayton, Alastair Clarkson and Brett Ratten. Plus Anthony Stevens at a board level. That's a pretty experienced group who surely didn't need a CEO to provide football program hand-holding?

Also Cam Matthews who spent 8 years at Hawthorn.

Looks a good choice. Wonder what went awry with Lloyd? One suggestion is that Geelong upped the ante. Good luck to him. Welcome Jen.
From Sonja's letter, Jen ticks the "club" CEO in terms of balance between both commercial and sporting backgrounds, whereas Lloyd brings a much heavier football weighting which I think we pretty much have covered with Clarko, Viney, et al. Background in commercial partnerships very good for our club!

So, the sheila's are driving the bus now, at least they will ask for assistance if they find themselves in trouble, instead of driving around in circles endlessly. :D

Welcome aboard Jennifer, all the best on your journey.
I now have ladies driving the bus I am on at work, at home, and at my club now.

My circle of life is complete :D

Whilst I saw obvious appeal in Lloyd as a strong football person, I concede that KC was right and that a balanced CEO is a better direction.

The fact he wasn't seen as ready, is pretty pleasing to be honest. I come back to the fact that Lloyd would have been the "easier" appointment to justify for Sonja, regardless of whether he was the best option. Reality is, we cannot afford to have another person on training wheels that aren't ready for the role. J.Watt absolutely does not have training wheels.

I couldn't be more trusting of Sonja.

Well done Jen Watts the first “real” AFL Female CEO appointment - Nth Melb you’re going places

Interesting coincidence of recent appointments at Nth Melb with Todd Viney previously working at Flying Start my player management company & Brett Ratten was managed by Flying Start ….and in Nth Melb’s most successful period 1996 - 1999 90% of their players managed by Flying Start including Wayne Carey & Corey McKernan etc

Guess where Jen got her start in AFL

Flying Start BANG

Write that Herald Scum oh sorry you don’t write facts sorry whoops sorry NOT
