Speculation Chad Warner [OOC 2025]

It's part of the reason Pickett is so much better with Bolton. Bolton and Chad are very similar IMO and play a decent enough split of forward/mid. Pickett would be like 600-700k cheaper and fill the exact position we need.

Given Bolton is a given, Pickett is better for us if possible over Warner and even that must be tight cap wise.
id be targeting a meat and potatoes mid like drew or dunkley over warner.

somebody who will let serong + young shine and round out the mid mix well with brayshaw.

be a lot cheaper than warner too.

I think the club is banking on Erasmus or O'Driscoll for that but I agree, I would have been very very keen on Peatling or Kennedy. Perfect for thay role and certainly cheaper...

erasmus looks far too slow both in terms of pace and decision making to me. i dont think he makes it. maybe johnson could be turned into that player?

peatling would be a terrific acquisition in that mould.

100% fair on Erasmus. He's gotten a lot better in those areas at WAFL but I've had the same doubts. Still, he's basically the best player at WAFL level and only 20. Could figure it out as the support guy. Johnson is another good shout. Best games were generally when he could take Fyfes role last year.

The Chad is going to be a very very highly paid boy

West Coast will most likely have a top 3-4 pick to get the deal done and $1.5 mil x 7 year deal on the table
Its going to be an extremely hard task for any team to match that and he is young enough to see out the rebuild alongside Harley

I think there is still a chance that Warner stays at Sydney, but the noise is pretty big from the WA about him coming home.
A lot of people criticized what the Eagles did this trade period, but their picks next year make them in prime position over Freo in getting a deal done.

Agreed.

Not heard a peep from him or Swans about it.

It's as bad as the Dusty trash.

I really don't understand this logic about picks. Short of some miracle, they are finishing bottom 4 and can just hand over a top 4 pick. Like Baker and Houston last trade period, WC could have picks 1 through 10 and it wouldn't matter if Warner picked Freo.

The reasoning from Barrett in particular was excruciatingly stupid trying to justify what WC did. At the most you could say getting mature players to make themselves more competitive will help convincing Warner but then they also traded Barrass...
