Potentially it's last roll of the dice for Zorks and Richy.Yes it is a no brainer to keep them out till after the bye, give them both a good fully fit training block in the 2-3 weeks prior to the game after the bye.
I'd like us to try and find out.Rich and Zorko, both elite in their foot skills and decision making particularly off half back.
Huge double blow.
How has Ah Chee been going?
He actually wasn't.end of the day he was found innocent. ah chee was unfortunate but Cripps didn't seek out to hurt him. wrong place, wrong time.
My thoughts:
- Berry should be straight into the midfield against Cripps. This is why he should be in the team, l don't mind if he is on the wing for lower clashes/teams with smaller bodied players. However, for teams like Carlton, Geelong, Melbourne he should go in the middle as l don't think his position on the wing is good enough to hold on it's on.
- Payne onto McKay, Joyce onto McKay, Andrews as the interceptor/resting ruck. If Andrews is on McKay, then McKay will deliberately take him out of the defensive half - like we used to do with McStay on other's gun defenders.
- Prior (or Madden)/Dev both in. At some point, you have to reward reserves form. Dev has been killing it in the 2's for a while and we keep waiting for a player who plays the same role/position as him. Well Zorko is that mid/fwd that Dev can play. I think playing him in the midfield in the reserves but then playing him on the win in a completly different role that he is practicing in then of course he won't look as good as he does in the reserves. Time to play him where he is learning his craft.
Is that a mid-season trade to finally get the twins to play a match together?
I'm thinking we could either bring Prior or Madden in to play on Silvagni. Prior has the disposal + mongrel and will contest hard. Madden has pace + decent leap. Since we're replacing Rich, I'll lean towards Prior for his kicking skills.I wish i had your faith!
I agree we seem to be going better. But if we lose this match then hard to be confident about that. It feels like a fork in the road to me. Would not shock me if we win well. But equally i can imagine a big blues crowd and a suddenly confident Carlton winning the midfield battle.
I would probably try Joyce on McKay and Payne on Curnow and see if Harris can float. Starce on Silvagni?
Its a con. It's the same person moonlighting and getting paid from 2 clubs apparently. True story. Is that a mid-season trade to finally get the twins to play a match together?
Agree. I have the same feeling regarding Neale/Dunkley/Ashcroft combo. Last week was the first time I saw Ashcroft at the bottom of the pack, flat on ground and scraping for ball. He looked up to see where Neale was and tapped it out of congestion. Now imagine this happening on instinct when all 3 know where each other will be. They are going to find a few more levels together in terms of cohesion and it'll be poetry in motion by then. Some early judgements being made on Gunston.
Learning a new system, 3rd or 4th in line, we are adjusting to having a lead up forward, looks to be putting pressure on himself too.
Just give it some time to gel, I reckon he’ll be huge in the second half of the year once he finds his feet.
"end of the day" .........it's night timeend of the day he was found innocent. ah chee was unfortunate but Cripps didn't seek out to hurt him. wrong place, wrong time.
Cripps was not found innocent. The case was thrown out under a legal technicality and he could have been re-tried if the AFL chose to do so. The technicality was around the the advice given to the panel before their deliberation which was only slightly different to the charge. Had the advice been the same as the charge he was guilty as per the first finding, the appeal was on the advice given but absolutely nothing to do with the fact he attacked the head of Ahh Chee.end of the day he was found innocent. ah chee was unfortunate but Cripps didn't seek out to hurt him. wrong place, wrong time.
Thats a good way to put it. He was never tried for his crime. He was charged, found guilty then the case dismissed on appeal under a procedural matter. He could have been re-tried following correct procedures and again would have been found guilty. There was never any defence that Ahh Chee's head was not attacked just the AFL stuffed up, by only a few words, given to the deciding panel. Has the case been re-tried as it should have been Cripps would have been found guilty again.Excellent, I will continue to pick "Guilty but not suspended due to a technicality in the wording."
Not guilty is a legal term in no way to be considered a one on one correlation with being innocent!end of the day he was found innocent. ah chee was unfortunate but Cripps didn't seek out to hurt him. wrong place, wrong time.
ever heard of innocent until proven guilty? end of the day he was cleared to play. Not guilty is a legal term in no way to be considered a one on one correlation with being innocent!
I don't think many are blaming Cripps, it's the bungling of the process that has caused the angst amongst Lions supporters and sympathy for Lachie.ever heard of innocent until proven guilty? end of the day he was cleared to play.
blame the afl lawyers not cripps.

Some years ago I made this:Look at this West Coast injury list - all I can say is 'lol':
PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN Coby Burgiel Hamstring 3-4 weeks Campbell Chesser Knee 2-3 weeks Tom Cole Ankle TBC Jamie Cripps Ankle 12-14 weeks Harry Edwards Wrist 2-3 weeks Elijah Hewett Ankle 2-3 weeks Brady Hough Hamstring 1-2 weeks Shannon Hurn Managed Test Noah Long Hamstring 2-3 weeks Jeremy McGovern Hamstring 7-8 weeks Nic Naitanui Achilles 7-8 weeks Liam Ryan Hamstring 10-12 weeks Dom Sheed Throat TBC Luke Shuey Ankle/hamstring 4-5 weeks Jack Williams Spleen 3-4 weeks Isiah Winder Hamstring TBC Elliot Yeo Groin 3-4 weeks Updated: April 25, 2023
if the afl lawyers had put forward the right charge, Carlton's defence would have been different. we have no way of knowing what they would have said, so we cant say hes guilty.Sure I have. But your claim (initially) was that the system had declared him innocent which is not an accurate statement ... many people go to jail for crimes they did not commit and many perpretators walk free. Conflating not-guily with innocent or law with justice etc are common misconceptions.
Oh and I would have had more 'sympathy' for Cripps if his post-incident reactions had been something other than complete satisfaction and a sh*t eating grin after having laid out Ah Chee so think of his actions as deliberate professional sniping** which was, admitedly effective
Anyway moving on from past trolling to our coming engagement - will be a good test for both teams
** (then again what do I know - I still think of Jobe Watson as a drug cheat)
If we can keep offering quick options , I reckon Joyce and his calibre will be fine.100% ideal scenario would be Joyce being able to play on McKay, with Andrews playing off Silvagni to impact the contest. The issue will be the former not becoming a liability for us.
