Correct - but you still have to break the rules. So you hit a guy on the top of the head and he gets up and plays on with a free kick - then you can be reprimanded on the potential to cause injury. But if you execute a legitimate shirt-front without any head contact then there's no case to answer.

When Nic was suspended for his legal tackle didn't they sort have change the rule during the trial ? They just make sh*t up. Listening to the outrage in the East, I think he will get at least a week.

I’ve seen Williams listed as out and probably deserves it but we need to persevere and pump games and experience into him till he finds his confidence at this level ..

Whilst we need to get games into young players, they have to at least show something when they play. They can’t just be given games. Williams needs to go back to WAFL (which hasnt started yet unfortunately) and show something. At the moment, he is offering little and showing less…

A shame as I had high hopes. But agree with other posters, how does a big lump of a lad go to a stick in a couple of WC pre-seasons. Boggles the mind.

No idea if he's got any ruck talent at all, but not sure his 3 hit outs should be used as evidence either way as he's basically played zero ruck.

I think it would be a valid experiment, but maybe they've already tried at training i guess.

At least HEdwards is good at defending.

Williams at this stage is ineffective in the ruck and ineffective forward.

We are wasting Rotham as a player. He came to the club as an attacking runner with good footskills, and now he's a timid 3rd tall (4th tall when Edwards plays) who makes a lot of very simple mistakes by foot. I struggle to see what his defined role is, and to me it looks like his confidence down as a result.

It's a shame the WAFL hasn't started yet as I'd like to see him sent back to the twos to build some confidence and to go back to playing his natural attacking game in a less stressful environment. I really like him as a player, but he's not offering much at the moment ( I get it's round 1, but this applies to last year as well).

We are wasting 80% of the players we have drafted over the last 5 years with complete lack of development or improvement. This learning systems BS is the culprit

No point challenging it. The golden boy Rowell even with no injury is a protected species. Bit like a roundhouse whack to the ribs was a 1 week holiday a couple of years ago now it's a fine. It maybe it's because it's an Essendon ruckman in Sam Draper. Noted that Ratugolea went off and Rowell doesn't but both are medium impact?

Part of me agrees with you as I like to give young guys a fair run at it. But still not convinced at all by him and I really had high hopes. Whilst he is young and has time, he will need to show something soon.

But the problem is compounded by NN’s low game time. We are playing a man down at times and are top heavy. Will be interested to see what Strnadica has to offer in the same role when he is fit as he would seem a better ruck and forward at this stage (albeit at the lower level).

Sunday game, me thinks a couple late fitness tests with the likes of Yeo & Duggan i think who were listed at Round 2 or 3.
Rioli downgraded to low impact(fine) or thrown out no head contact.

Reddit posters are a different breed. IMO it was always going to incur a suspension, there’s no way he was going for the mark. The outrage that we would appeal it is hilarious though, particularly the comments from the Freo fan at the end lel
