JD's opponent may have been a training cone with our injury issues .

The training cone's manager is currently in talks with the Eagles to sign a 2 year extension, with an eye on moving into the leadership group.

Looking forward to DG arguing on some strange tangent and ballsing it up.

Should be simple, Rowell didn't leave the field, didn't undergo concussion protocol ie Neither Rowell or the GCS medico's believed the contact was high. Rowell might even give evidence that it wasn't high if we are lucky...we seem to have good relations with GC.

You can't argue high contact as low impact - it isn't possible in the new grading system where the lowest grade of impact for high contact is medium - but I fear that's what DG will try to do resulting in another L.

For those who want Harry Edwards to be rested, did you see his tackle on Holman in the second quarter?

The second ruck and third tall in both in attack and defence is difficult.

Rotham and Hurn in the defensive line up worries me. Hurn has been great but on Sunday he role (apart from kicking in to the right from points) was not clear. Meanwhile Rotham floated between Rankin and Lucosius without success and neither laid a tackle.

Defence (7) - Gov, Barrass, Witherden, Nelson, Hurn, Hough, Foley

Forwards (7) - JK, Dixon, Ryan, Petruccelle, SPS, Waterman (unless Darling picked), Langdon (unless Rioli gets off)

Centre/Mids (6) - NicNat, Kelly, Jones, Redden, Shuey,
Wings (2) - Gaff, Naish

In: Witherden, Ryan, Kelly; Shuey
Out: Rotham, Williams, Rioli, XON

Guv and Harry to share the second ruck role.

Harry has to play every game he is our most promising young player by a long way, arguably not too far behind McGovern and barrass and the only one prepared to play a lock down role. Us if he doesn’t play and McGovern is gassed and on the bench we are very vulnerable to marking forwards without shep. Harry needs to play the Schofield role from 2018, I think he’s got the agility and that allows McGovern or Barra’s to do their zone thing

I'd be arguing that going for the footy is a reasonable footballing action (ie not negligent). He was clearly in close enough proximity to win that possession himself that the officiating umpires didn't pay Rowell the mark, or even a free kick. Also the way that footy was coming in meant both players were running into very uncomfortable territory. Was a credit to both players. If you are going to start calling "courage", "negligence" then say goodbye to AFL is we once knew it.

Interested in why you’d drop Waterman, not Dixon, for Darling. I think a forward line of Kennedy/Darling/Dixon is a bit more cumbersome.

Agree wholeheartedly. If any incidental contact (that has the potential to cause injury - and there is no argument that potential was there) is automatically negligent then we probably need a 2nd top up list for suspended players as well as COVID protocols.

If it wasn't a marking contest then 100% it is different (as Willie would have had the option to tackle but still materially impact the play). Outside of letting his opposition player mark the ball I'm not sure what he could have done (and, whilst I don't think this is/was the case, if it was a play on call by the umpire due to the kick not travelling 15m, then highlight that Rowell clearly didn't hear that either - and suggesting that one player further from an umpire should have known whilst another who is closer did not is unreasonable).

I thought Dixon played OK and he can be the back up ruck if need be. Darling will be OK as a lead up forward as I think it will take a couple of games to be competing for marks.

Don't forget I dropped Williams and Rotham meaning we are not as tall as first thought

Take two

In: Ryan, Darling, Kelly, Shuey, Witherden
Out: Rioli (shafted), Dixon, O’Neill, Hedwards, Hough

Backs: Barrass, Gov, Rotham, Hurn, Witherden, Foley, Nelson
Mids: Kelly, Redden, Gaff, Naish, SPS, Shuey
Rucks: NicNat, Williams
Forwards: Kennedy, Darling, Waterman, Ryan, Jones, Petch, Langdon
Sub: Hough
Emergencies: O’Neill (traveling), Edwards, Dixon

Good debut by Hough but let’s give him a light week and a trip to Melbourne and make him either the sub or the traveling emergency. Straight swap for Witherden.

Nelson replaces Edwards in the backline to make us shorter, Gaff moves out to the wing with Kelly coming back in.

Shuey, Jones and SPS to split two of the mid spots. Shuey replaces O’Neill and can play his 60 per cent game time.

Darling and Ryan straight swap for Dixon and Rioli. I’m pretty pessimistic about Rioli getting off. Langdon would come out if the unthinkable happens and the tribunal decides to #freewillie.

All the guys that were dropped are unlucky. Probably the one player that actually deserved to be dropped would be Williams, but I think we need two genuine rucks against the Goldstein/Xerri/CCJ combo.

Duggan can have a run in the WAFL scratchie if he’s fit. Five changes is probably enough for now.

Yeooo'y with a spring in his step = Sunday Game = He be inski's
Round 2 get him in before Derby. Get him a game under his belt before he goes toe to toe, mano a mano with Fyfe.

Stop bleeding the media, ya fools.
Darling had a foot injury and just busted a tenner..
Nek Minnit.
