Why arent they considering using HEdwards as back up ruck @204cm. He's our tallest player, played ruck in wafl when he was only 198cm. He's better at ground level and around the ground than Gov. Gov is only 197cm and we all know he's not a fan of having to wrestle for a touch.
Dump Williams, massive waste of bench space, and even more of a waste on field. Then HEdwards just plays in whoevers position when Nicnat/Gov/Barrass/Rotham are on the bench?

He’s got a career total of three hitouts.

In: Darling, Ryan, Kelly, Shuey
Out: HEdwards, Dixon, O'Neill, Hough

Hurn Barrass Rotham
Foley McGovern Shuey
Naish Redden Gaff
Rioli Darling Petruccelle
Williams Kennedy Ryan
Naitanui Kelly Jones
Petrevski-Seton Langdon Nelson Waterman
Sub: Hough/Winder

Chuck Shuey on a half-back flank and let him rotate through the middle occasionally. For the love of god, keep Jones in the middle where he just played his best game and have Rioli in at least a 50/50 forward mid rotation.

Naish and Gaff occupying the wings, Nelson primarily back in the defensive rotation but able to run through the midfield as needed.

Not really convinced Witherden is a walk-up selection.

It's a bit chicken or the egg though.

No idea if he's got any ruck talent at all, but not sure his 3 hit outs should be used as evidence either way as he's basically played zero ruck.

I think it would be a valid experiment, but maybe they've already tried at training i guess.

Yeah it’s been talked about the last few off seasons but never seemed to eventuate. Is it that it’s been tried and failed? Is it that they haven’t stuck at the experiment long enough? Who knows.
So we stick with what doesnt work and just throw McGovern at all our problems (who doesnt care about the problems cause he gets paid well regardless and doesnt like responsibility) and we dump Edwards before Williams because......

Gov seemed to play alright yesterday.

We dump Edwards before Williams because Williams is actually a ruckman, North play three of them, and asking NicNat to ruck all day against all three with only a guy with 3 career WAFL hitouts for backup, in round two of a 22-game season, with precious little ruck backup on the list, would be insane.

We need Hedwards as the stopper though. Barrass and Gov are similar so it would be better for one of them to go ruck.

Can we bring in Darling, Kelly, Ryan, Shuey and Witherden all in the same match?

Historically that sort of thing hasn’t gone well for us.

If there was a week to do it it'd be round 2, and Kelly and Ryan have only been out of training for about a week. Depending on how they pull up from their infections they should be good to go.

Of all the media frothing about Rioli, not one had mentioned that he broke any rules, they're all concerned with "the potential to cause injury". Well tough shit, unless he breaks a rule then he hasn't done anything wrong, and until the rules change (which I have no doubt they will) you can continue to bump within the rules. All the whineging is just about their golden (ginger) boy Rowell getting shit mixed. Get the **** over it.

Don’t want Darling.

Reportedly treated club and fellow players with contempt. One week on the sidelines and straight back in.

No thanks.

The key word there being “reportedly”.

The club and his fellow players would be in a much better position to know.

I think that’s why discussion has been about potential to cause injury as they changed the rule this year to make that a factor

Doing some digging on rules for 2022. Came across this article. Looks like potential to cause injury factors heavily onto decision making.

However… I don’t see any high contact in the bump that Willie have Rowell. It seemed to impact his shoulder more hence I declare Willie has no case to answer.
This is why it didn't even warrant a free kick.
Couldn't believe the bleating in the post match, but then I saw it was the usual has been dweebs that complain about us. Real chip on shoulder stuff

Kelly and Ryan aren't coming back from injury, they just had to isolate for a week (unless COVID knocked them around).

Darling has been training so shouldn't be too bad. Even if he's undredone, he's still an upgrade on any of the other tall forwards.

Shuey is the only question, but we nursed XON for 60% game time, so he can't be worse.

Very good point. Vic media clueless and biased as usual.
