Good news, with the public holiday I only have 4 work days until the gf. Bad news, I’ve still got 4 work days until the gf. Can it be next Saturday already?

From last time we played them, also had WHE had a shot rather than passing it off as the siren went, it would have been a 3 goal loss. Also note, Cox was a sub came on late and dominated the ruck.

“The out-of-form and undermanned Pies could be without more soldiers too amid injury concerns to Nathan Murphy (back), Jakob Ryan (concussion) and Jamie Elliott (head knock) in addition to Beau McCreery facing potential MRO scrutiny for a dangerous tackle on Darcy Wilmot.

Of course, this is a Collingwood side already missing Darcy Moore, Nick Daicos, Jordan De Goey and Bobby Hill, with injuries piling up at the wrong time for Craig McRae

We are developing a habit of playing our nemisis in Grand Finals. The last 3 forms a trend. 2011 it was Geelong, 2018 the Eagles and now 2023 the Lions. Lost all H&A games in these years and finals up until now. We never get the "easy kill" do we? Always so ****ing hard. I really don't know how we turn around a 6 goal and 4 goal loss. I hope McFly has a strategy or maybe just a couple of Aces up the sleeve somewhere!

Missing our 3 best players is a big difference

Some observations about the Lions from tonight:

- They break plenty of tackles. Lots of explosive, big bodied players. We really need to stick our tackles to win next week. Leans me to want to push for Adams inclusion in place of Lipinski, who really struggles at sticking tackles.

- Andrews is a great interceptor, however is really gettable in 1 V 1 situations. To me the debate is picking Frampton to occupy Andrews defensively, or picking Kreuger to cause Andrews some headaches defensively. I suspect we select Frampton, however I am in the Kreuger camp.

- Cox must play ruck. The big O is really impactful at clearance against smaller rucks. Cox showed his impact in the late season matchup. This is why I think we must avoid replacing McStay with a small, as it would make Cox play forward more as a result.

Why do you hate Lachie Neale, he seems like a decent bloke
We finished 14th in 2018 (the final year he played with us) and needed on-field leadership as our list was at the lowest point of its post-2015 rebuild. There were also some off-field issues the club was dealing with from memory.

He won our B&F that year and was the fans shining light in a bleak season. He chose not to be a key part of our rebuild and decided instead to chase money and premiership glory with another club, which put a lot of Freo fans off-side because he always came across as being completely invested in our club.

After lots of back and forth in my mind, I think the most likely selection path to maximise our GF chances in dry conditions is for Howe to replace McStay up forward and for Frampton to replace Howe in defence.

Both Howe and Frampton have proven themselves successful in those roles already this season.

Anything else would be a high-risk experiment.

So, for me it’s……

IN Frampton, Adams (if fit)
OUT McStay, Lipinski (if Adams is fit)
SUB Ginni again.

We are starting on the same score, 0-0.

We bring our best and we can win.

Now it's the Lions, the key is workrate and cutting off their kicking zones. Can't let them get that chipping game going because it inevitably leads to a long kick out the back when our backline gets outnumbered.

I do think our defence is in the best form it has been in all season. But they will need to be.

We had a few outs at the Gabba but it’s tough up there

The last game we played them at marvel without daicos, Moore hill and Degoey. 4 goals can be turned around

Murphy was injured with about 8:52 remaining in the 3rd, so Cox would have come in after that.

We could end up playing Frampton as sub and go with Cox forward, changing with Cameron. Insert Frampton in the last quarter. If we really just want someone to provide a contest then we should go with freddy
Hard to provide a contest while sitting on the bench with an iced up shoulder. If we weren't willing to risk a cherry ripe Darcy Moore in 2018 we are not going to play an injury prone player with fumbly hands in a grand final.
