McStay out and Adams in will hopefully be the only change. If Adams not fit, Noble in and then we push WHE back to HF type role.

Keep Ginni as sub.

And just go small and blitz em, like 1990. Dont bring in a big lug just for the sake of it. Go small, have Elliott, McReery, Hill, Adams, Daicos and WHE buzz around and cause havoc up forward.

Cox and Cameron can float forward at times to help out Mihocek.

IMHO, the Lions are still a bit suspect when under immense pressure, Carlton just couldnt sustain it...we can.

Pies starting 22 changes compared to when we last played the Lions.

DeGoey for Ryan - huge in
N.Daicos for Noble/Adams - huge in
Moore for Frampton - huge in
Cox for McStay - big in (Cox in the ruck has been great)
B.Hill for Ginni - big in

We really need Maynard and IQ to stop Cameron and Rayner - those two have combined for 16 goals against us this year, absolutely destroyed us in both games. Blanket them and we are well on the way to the flag.

On top of this, our midfield pressure has to be elite from the word go. We simply cannot let Brisbane short kick their way from half back and then get it long over the back to a Rayner/Cameron.

It's a delicate balance of do we go H2H with them in a transition game or turn it into a scrap similar to our first 2 finals.

I wonder if it’s worth putting some time into Coleman? He is a weapon for them off half back. If we can keep the ball out of his hands it can help our repeat entries.

Lester/Andrews/Gardiner/Starcevitch/Wilmot can all be very shaky with ball in hand with mild pressure. Keep it out of Coleman’s hands and we can make it really hard for them to get out

Everyone's favourite Lippa has played a forward tag on Salem and Whitfield.

He could repent all his sins by shutting Kiddy Coleman out of the game on Saturday.

My dream would be for it to be Billy Elliott. How much does he deserve it? Been our clutch man for so many games, missed the 2018 GF, stuck by the Pies, gone through so many injuries.

On a day predicted to be the fourth hottest grand final on record giving ourselves the best chance of running out the game is preferable than replacing McStay with a tall not as good IMO.

It's predicted to be 28 in the SHADE meaning it'll be over 30 out on the G in the sun and that's bloody hot for a 2hr game considered a winter sport.

If people don't think that favours Brisbane after we've just lived through 3 months of a Victorian winter and we don't need to plan around it then go right ahead.

Me I already see the headlines being written of how it was our downfall.

Bring in the extra runner, use those within last weeks 23 to cover for McStay and hope like hell we can last longer than Brisbane on a very warm September day.

Surely that photo is doctored. If not Kingy was operating at a severe disadvantage. His stereoscopic vision and therefore his ability to follow the ball in flight must have been compromised. Super effort to have the career he did.

very interesting analysis by King on SEN this morning.
In our recent games ( last 10) McStay has been the most efficient fwd 50 target in the game.
Of the 30 occasions he's been targeted 50% have resulted in Goals.
Clearly he either marks, holds off opponents with his size and/or creates a spill.

This tells me he needs to be replaced with a big body, who can't be outsized, and force a spill when a mark is not possible.

A small fwd line is not going to cut it.

Also said that during finals Cox has had 13 HTA ( on par with Big O) and Cameron just 3.

The ruck is one area where I can see us having a very big advantage. In the Qualifying Final, the Big O was beaten by Lycett (comparing hitouts only) and in the Prelim, the Big O only just shaded the Carlton rucks (with TDK injured). Our combined rucks have the potential to have a telling advantage over the Big O. Last time we played, Cox was the sub and he dominated the Big O once he came on at half time. He gave Pendles some great service out of the centre. Harking back to the Qualifying Final, Ollie Lord played well on Andrews by drawing him back into the goal square - can our resting rucks do that too? It's a different role to the one that McStay plays, my concern is that neither Cox or Cameron can play the McStay role.

I think the game should be pushed back to a twilight game or a night game because of the extreme heat.It won’t be a great spectacle in those torrid conditions.The players are going to be tired by quarter time.But the AFL doesn’t really care about the health and welfare of the players.The’re more concerned about placating the traditionalists of the game who insist on playing the game in the middle of the afternoon,regardless of the conditions.
