Melbourne only play one genuine ruck, I still think our best balance would be Cox as sole number 1 and McStay chopping out. That allows us to keep Markov in the 22 and either Lipinski or WHE as the sub.
Howe, Murph and Moore give us a plethora of options against Melbourne's midsize forwardline and combine to quell Gawn by floating in as third man up if he drifts forward.

In Moore Murphy McReery
Out Cameron Lipinski Markov(sub)

B. IQ. Frampton. Maynard
HB. Murphy. Moore. Crisp
C. Sidebottom. Mitchell. Daicos
HF. Howe Checkers. McReery
F. Elliot. McStay. Ginni

R. Cox. DeGoey Pendlebury
Int. WHE Noble Adams Hill
Sub. Markov

However you balance the starting 18 and the bench, I think that's the best bet for the 23.

I think one of Howe, Murphy or WHE has to miss and although Howe was patchy at times tonight, suspect he gets the nod over WHE.

I'd really like Markov to be in the starting 22, he hasn't put a foot wrong but I'm not sure you could leave anyone else out and not sure anyone else fits the sub spot as well as him.

I'd love to not carry two rucks - or more accurately I'd love to not have to watch Darcy Cameron tripping over his own feet and headbutting the ball - but feels like we are too far down the path now.
It thereabouts but naming 4 small forward with 2 on the bench screams low impact sub 10 possession games from them.

I think frampton rucks better than Cameron, cox though would be #1

Frampton might be a better ruck than defender
I know is only Browne but he just mentioned in the rooms Moore would play next week if the game was on

Fly literally said exactly that during the week..............Tom Browne with another exclusive there.

If we’re playing Dees, then Howe needs to play as a defensive forward on Lever/May. We can’t let those two just zone off and intercept everything.

agree with this.

If Howe plays defensive forward with Mihocek and McStay as the 2 KPFs then it really lessens the need to have one of the rucks playing significant time forward, which then brings into question whether you need to carry 2 rucks (Cox & Cameron). Also consider that Melb will most definitely run with only 1 ruck in Gawn. The complexity is that I don't trust Cameron to be competitive enough in another final (after his Swans non-showing) and you could maybe make the same argument about Cox being unable to run with Gawn all game.

So, for mine, you're almost forced to play 2 rucks with one spending significant minutes on the pine and this will be exacerbated if you move Howe forward.

The other option which is totally left field ..play Frampton + Murphy as your 2 KP defenders; drop Howe and bring Darce back in and release him forward to play a defensive + dangerous KP forward ..not gonna happen but an interesting mix nontheless.

So we’re playing either Brisbane Melbourne or Port.

Brisbane are playing St Kilda at the Gabba Saturday twilight
Port are playing Richmond in Adelaide on Sunday arvo
Melbourne are playing Swans in Sydney Sunday arvo

If all 3 win their games, we play Melbourne.

If 1 of them loses, we play that loser.

If 2 or more lose then there’s a bit more to it.

Think Howe almost certainly goes back to the forward line, but we’ll be keeping that quiet.

I doubt Cox and Frampton will hold their spot with Moore and Murphy returning. It’s a raffle out of the rest of tonight’s team + Beau as to who’ll be the sub from that 23.

i agree with the changes proposed by others in this thread

-Moore for Frampton
-Murphy for McRae
-McCreery for Lipinski
-WHE (sub)

Would love for our next game to have bright sun ripping across blue skies on a still Sept arvo.
