It's a pity Frampton didn't have the time and opportunity to settle into the backline this year because of having to fill in for our injured rucks. For that reason I won't be too hard on him, but he's been a bit ordinary. His opponent Weideman kicked 2 of Essington's 3 goals tonight. He was miles off him on a few occasions just guarding grass.

He goes out of the side when Moore or Murphy are available again.

Id still drop Ginnivan to sub, I still don't rate his defensive running, seems out of position often. I think this will be the team, especially while Melbourne have a mid size fwd line. Could change if it's not Melbourne.

In: Murphy, Moore, McReery
Out: Macrae, Frampton, Cox

Ginnivan sub.

B: Howe, Moore, Maynard, Quaynor, Noble, Murphy, Markov

M: Cameron, Crisp. DeGoey, Pendles, Mitchell, Sidebottom, Jaicos, Adams

F: McStay, Mihocek, Elliot, McReery, Hill, Lipinski (lucky), WHE (can change with Howe if May or Lever dominating).

Ginnivan the sub.

If we're going with 5 small forwards: Elliott, McCreery, Hill, Ginnivan, Adams. Then Lipinski may have to make way. If that happens, Hill and McCreery in particular will have to do more up the ground. Given this adds pace and power to the midfield, that's probably a good thing if they can get their hands on the ball.

Another option is that one of them is the sub. Hill or Ginnivan most suited.

For me, WHE should be a lock in our 22. We have a lot of running options but few of them give much overhead. Hosk just about our best runner and with the added aerial ability is important in disrupting ball movement, especially exiting defence.

Not sure where the selectors are on this, but I'd fit him into our 22 no matter what.

Time to lose a ruckman

Out Cameron macrae (sub) frampton
In Moore mccreery (sub) murphy

Mccreery or adams to be sub.

Howe forward

But I know I’m wrong….

C - Jaicos, DeGoey, WHE

If we're dropping a ruckman in Cameron, I doubt we're gonna shitcan further ruck depth in Frampton.

I reckon if Cameron goes, all it means is that Frammers and Murph peg down the backline with Moore playing a little bit higher and launching off his intercepts. Howe stays forward for aerial cover against May.

IN: Moore, McReery, Murphy
OUT: Macrae, Lipinksi (sub), Cameron, WHE

Bring on Cox as 1R and Frampton/McStay helping either end. History tells us you don't need a gun ruckman (fk you 2018 Lycett). We need to maintain speed speed and speed! Our game style relies upon it.

We know the ins already and to my thinking Howe has to play the defensive forward on Lever and May otherwise they will just do as they wish. Don’t hurt our game by doing it and it takes away their one wood. We don’t have a big key forward who they’d worry about so they will just come off whoever so Howie is the perfect player for that role.

I don't see any possibility of Cameron being dropped. Cox played one game as first ruck all year. No reason to make that change now. McRae believes they play better together and I think that's what we're going to go with, just like most of the year. Cox is the more fringe though, having already been dropped and played second ruck for all but one game he's played.

Moore, Nick Daicos, Murph, McCreery will all be there week one.

Out: Lipinski, McCrae (very stiff), Cameron, Noble (this is the tough call).

B Murphy Frampton Bruz
HB Quaynor Moore Nick
C WHE DeGoey Josh
HF McCreery McStay Hill
F Jamie Checkers Howe
Foll Cox, Mitchell, Crisp
I/C Ginnivan, Pendles, Sidebottom, Markov
Em: Adams

I don’t think I’ve missed anybody.
This team is gonna take a lot to beat it.

Go Pies!!

Fly said post game we will be playing 2 rucks

Has Markov gone past Noble

Is there a spot for Lipinski if Ginnivan plays ?

Someone going to be unlucky

Let’s just put this in perspective, if we drop one ruck then it’s Cameron vs Gawn all game or Cox. Ewwww imagine what Gawn would do to Cameron it would be a murder on National TV. It’ll be back to Guy Richards v Dean Cox I think it was. Not a pretty sight.

Yeah ummm nah.
Noble and Adams aren't being dropped.
Frampton on the other hand.....

Howe will play forward next week.

Cameron will be first ruck and Cox will be sub.

I reckon you can take that to the bank.

I could see this happening. I'd be nervous taking only Cox or Cameron in on their own, because if they went down you've got McStay solo rucking against probably Gawn, and that's a nightmare scenario. Having one as the sub is the insurance policy there. Cameron has probably earned the starting spot.

Melbourne only play one genuine ruck, I still think our best balance would be Cox as sole number 1 and McStay chopping out. That allows us to keep Markov in the 22 and either Lipinski or WHE as the sub.
Howe, Murph and Moore give us a plethora of options against Melbourne's midsize forwardline and combine to quell Gawn by floating in as third man up if he drifts forward.
I’m taking the 2018 GF approach by WC, where they wore down Grundy with 2 Rucks.
Gawn is their biggest weapon and needs to blunted.
Do that and we increase our chances greatly.

He's no chance. Looked sharp, though! The most shattering part about it is he won't play the VFL final.

Fin said after the game that he can play in this week’s VFL final. Because he only played a half at senior level last night?

I thought Nick was missing the first week of finals?
Noble going nowhere.
Even though I don't really rate him I can't see Lipinski being dropped.
