I think guys like Allen and Parker are pretty much already there. Unfortunately, there's isn't a spot for them atm
I mean really push harder than just “being on the edge”

That’s when things become even hotter for us.

If Parker can become a player, it may for example be the decision to allow Maynard to leave and receive the first rounder compo for him without committing $6m in resources into him

We could have drafted him, but went with Scharenberg and Freeman instead.

Glass half full response:

Imagine how much Guy and co would have ****ed up the salary cap if they had've had to sign Cripps as well.

And he's added to the Carlton torture - it's the hope that he and a few others give that really breaks those ****ers every single year.

No he didn't. He gets far less open, is worse in front of goal, and defensively hurts us.
Cox is a better contested mark, better at providing a contest in a park marking situation and can provide a chop out in the ruck. We’ve been one of the best forward pressure teams with Cox in the side he’s never negatively affected that aspect of our game.

It'll depend on our ball movement. If we're getting it in quickly you'd prefer Membrey. But if we're getting it in slowly with a lot of those long kicks to packs in the forward pocket - Cox is your man.

I think with Mihocek, Elliott, Hill and Schultz we have enough lead up targets for the quick plays. Cox being the long bomb target is the bigger value add at this stage Imo.

I’m saying that I get the vibe we want to persists the the three Ms.

It's not just leading though, quick entries means more space and Coxy's mobility is more of an issue in terms of both him getting to contests, being able to defend exits and his man being able to zone off and intercept.

Another LOL at my post.
Can someone please explain to me why McCreery is so untouchable. Yes great defensively (yet I question that maybe 1 effective tackle a game) and 1 or 2 random crumbing snaps a game.
Good role player but doesn't do nearly enough to be a lock every week.
Schultz (credit due) deserves that defensive foward spot this week and week after.
Why not give the foward pocket role to a West? Or someone else who could offer more dynamism?

West isn’t ready. He’d get totally exploited by his opponent if he doesn't clunk it and his confidence will be destroyed. Slowly, slowly with these big boys. With Beau I think we only see limited amounts of what he brings when watching on TV. If he wasn’t doing his role exactly as Fly wanted he’d be playing VFL until he did. Plain and simple. These blokes would pour over hours of footage of the game during the week and if anyone wasn’t helping the team they’d be out of the side. That’s my rationale. 🤷🏼‍♂️

We aren’t going in with four tall forwards.

Fair enough. But there seems to be this weird theme on this board that unless your 25 and had 7 years on the list there not ready.
How do you know? Pendles Sidebottom nick d Josh d moore et. all debuted as teenagers. Give them a go. How else do you know?

No idea mate. I’m just a dumb supporter with a view that’s probably up shit creek. Leave the analysis to Fly and the other coaches on here

I think Cripps deserves all his votes. I want to agree with you but there's no denying, Cripps was the best player in the comp last year. He's wasted at Carlton

I don’t deny that he’s a champion

In fact, I’m actually ok with him being a dual Brownlow medallist

Doesn’t change that he shouldn’t have been eligible in 2022 and was getting votes last year just for showing up

45 votes man. 45 votes. That’s essentially getting voted in every single game. Win, loss or draw. It’s frankly ridiculous lol

He's played one game in the VFL. His position is not a need with Checkers, Membrey, McStay, Elliott, Schultz, Hill. Our forward line is stacked.

Beau looks down on confidence to me. But even if they wanted to give him a spell, we don't have depth outside the team in his role or skillset. You could move Elliott higher up the ground, but jeez he's looking like a weapon inside 50 at the moment.

Outside Nick Daicos and Darcy Moore (no choice really) I don’t think anyone is untouchable

But from what I can tell, they’re building Beau towards finally becoming the midfielder I’ve always wanted them to

In two games this season now, he’s attended 4 centre bounces and won 3 clearances on each occasion. His potential as that powerful brute midfielder is tantalisingly within grasp and I don’t reckon dropping him will help that.

For mine, he’d need to be deplorable for a good month block of games to want to put the brakes on such a key component of development of our future.

But that’s just my take.
