That was three games or so back. You got anything more recent? Structurally he obviously stays in the side but if anyone with a better record applies for selection, he is one I would look to return to the VFL for a break.

Lucky for us McRae sees things generally more the way I do

McReery won’t be getting dropped again this season so you might as well get used to him being there

Cox will make way for Grundy.

Would be a massive mistake imo were that to occur. Cox was one of our best on Queens Birthday and loves the big stage.

But I don’t think it will anyway. Sounds like Grundy is getting at least 1 more in the VFL

Cox took 3 marks yesterday, one of which was a mark on the goal line he probably should have shepherded through but got him his only goal. It’s not like he’s Stewart Loewe out there. He gets moved off the ball too easily and I think what he does do tends to get overstated because it does look impressive when he does something.

When Grundy is ready, he may need one more week, he’ll come in. Everyone should understand that.

Cox has been a good contested mark for some time. He equaled the record in a prelim final. I haven't seen him pushed under the ball for a long time.

When you consider the bye it will be 2 games in a month under your scenario.
Even better. Fatigue sets in, injuries happen.

In order for us to win a premiership this year we need to take a gamble, we are not favourites. Our team is injury prone and some of the younger players have been carrying an immense load this year, they won’t be able to play out a finals series.

We had the same issue in 2018, Bucks recollection of the fade out in the second half was fatigue…

It’s a tough one because I think Gawn/Jackson have more trouble Rucking against Cox with his reach especially at CB.
Conversely Cameron is a more reliable fwd target.

And Grundy offers a better stoppage and clearance game than both the others. With Adams absent this might be decisive.

Selectors have a tough job this week.

I think you’ll find 2 games in a month has always been considered a negative for finals preparations.

Huge game. Sucks that it comes on the back of 2 six day breaks.
2 keys for the game will be quelling Oliver and Petracca's infuence, and stopping May and Lever marking the ball.
Do those 2 things and we win.

Watching the replay, Howe looked pretty pissed off on the bench. Reckon he will miss a few.
Hopefully just pissed off that he wasn’t allowed to resume the game.

With every injury to star, put added strain on those senior and key players left. I only keeping posting on this because I know Craig reads Bigfooty and takes many of his cues from us…rest at least 5 players this week!

Moore, the Daicos boys, Murphy and Maynard! Howe and Adams stay out.

In come
Madgen, Kelly, Brown, Macrae and Henry, Chugg and Poulter.

I have no recollection of there being a precedent or a significant sample size to judge by.

Unless I’m missing something, we are a long way back in terms of favouritism our key players are injury prone and/or young…we are coming up against Melbourne who need to win…in all likelihood we lose either way.

You dress it up as Moore delayed concussion, Maynard shoulder, etc…

It’s a gamble, but we need to do that.

I never said concede, in fact I reckon the players coming in would be incredibly competitive. They are fresh and will eager to stamp a claim on a spot for finals.
Pick your best possible side every week. Coaching can be tough but that philosophy will increase your chances of keeping your job

It sounds like you've already conceded the game.

Cox is a proven big game/stage player.

We’re playing 3 massive H&A games leading into finals. Which means we’re literally playing nothing but “big” games for the remainder of the season

Cox was one of our best against both Melbourne and Carlton, 2 teams we’re playing again over the next 3 weeks.

Dropping Cox would be a massive mistake for the remainder of the season imo, unless of course his form genuinely warrants it

Cox could be our most important player for the next 2 months

We sent Swanny for a mid season training block to the US, all I know is we aren’t going to win a premiership going at 110% for the rest of the year and finals serious. We will wilt before then, as is our current list profile. We don’t have the depth and physical stamina and strength to go with the best sides. We need to do something different otherwise it’s a wasted opportunity.

Pity that he is a tad slow , he has a lot of footy smarts , come finals time when the pressure and speed goes up a couple of notches , that will be exposed , would love to be proven wrong .but me thinks not .

It is really unfortunate for the young kid. He has a good football brain. Just not speed of movement. Way too slow. But thems are the breaks. He’ll at least have done something that most of us only dream of. Playing AFL. No shame in not being able to go further. He’ll find that there will be others that will go past him shortly. Macrea, Harrison, Draper and the next crop of draftees. I think he’ll be lucky to stay at years end. Along with Callum. Someone has to make way.

I hope you’re right, but I fear you aren’t. If we lose Friday off a 6 day break, and/or cop injuries we will look back at the game as a lost opportunity to rest and refresh key players before finals.

Thankfully there is no one at the club making ridiculous comment like yours. If this happens and that happens. Geez.

You don’t think that the coaching staff has earnt their positions this season. You don’t believe they’re capable of preparing a team for finals…….

Hmmm…..

I suggest you just sit back and enjoy. As your level of understanding WIT is sorely missing. Maybe take up play dough and crayons. It’s soothing.

Happy to place a bet with anybody that we don’t win the premiership this year without some sort of out of the box intervention. We will run out of steam, I know this because it has happened before. If you don’t learn from mistakes then…yeah that’s how you ended up being.

Wow - so you trust Fly’s judgment with McReery but not on Grundy.
Ok got it.

Fly has not played Grundy yet. So I implicitly trust Fly and his coaching. Absolutely. You’re the one in denial. I’ll accept anything Fly and his coaching staff decide. They’ve absolutely earnt that.

And until Grundy plays Fly and co are in agreement. They think that the Cameron-Cox combination is doing the job.

What is funny though. If we take a look back at the time when Grundy went down. Most of the disbelievers of the ruck situation were almost gloating that we’d suffer without Grundy the AA Ruckman. Yet at 10-0 and barely noticing his absence. You still won’t accept what you have seen. And that you are wrong.

That to win we don’t need a Ruckman like Grundy. It’s as obvious as the noses on your faces.

And I’ll bet McReery plays Friday and Grundy doesn’t. You best hope we don’t win. Because that will mean that Grundy might find himself in the VFL for more development time the following week.

Exactly.... We get a rest the week before the finals. Why not take the punt at potentially beating Melbourne for the second time this year and cementing a top 3 slot?

Exactly. We should be chasing as many wins as we can. Whatever will happen will happen. Get as high up as we can. And then let the heavens fall….

No one will want to play us on the MCG come finals times. And if we finish top 4. We don’t leave the MCG for the entire finals. Provided the Dreamons and Handbaggers finish top 2.

A 100 point loss is not what we want to see.
