The qualities of a player on the wing have forever been pace strength and/ or elusive and highly skilled. Think Ricky Barham, Alan Atkinson, Thorold Merrett, Wayne Gordon, Robbie Dean, Gavin Brown, Darren Millane, Sidebottom, J Daicos, Graham Wright .........

I was talking in reference to suggestions of going with Carmichael instead of him. With the current game, they need a wingman who they can trust to keep their spacing and not get sucked into the contest. Has Carmichael ever played that role?

Personally, I would have gone with WHE and Lipinski to take the extra wing minutes and Kreuger their forward minutes, but can see why they've gone with Bianco.

No it's not. They said most likely dry in the late afternoon and evening. The night we played Melbourne there was torrential rain when I was driving in on the Eastern Freeway. The game was played in perfect conditions.
I swear I heard Jane Boobs say rain developing late….

Well, we are in Australia. In Australia it’s legend, son of legend or saviour
I think everyone is asking the wrong question. It's their name, names don't change in their plural form. The real question is: what's the collective noun for a group of them? I'm pretty sure that it's a Premiership of Daicoses.

The difference is between Bianco and Carmichael is marginal, and I like the fact Bianco stood up in that high pressure game against Adelaide.

Anyway neither player will win us the game, it’ll be a team effort. Fremantle small forwards and contested mids have me concerned, but if we bring the same pressure we did last week we’ll go alright.

I know we had Kreuger as the medi sub against Geelong but in hindsight it was very risky. If Adams went down earlier in the game we were replacing an inside mid with a tall forward.

Also on Freo I feel some confidence because they didn't really trouble us last time at their home ground. I'd argue we're better now than them despite no Adams and now it's at the MCG.

But at the same time they were only one Jamie Elliott kick (well, 2 to be technical) away from being top 4 and finishing above us.

I don't think it was that risky. Adams injured early. Josh to centre square. Whe to wing. Kreuger up forward.

Oh god Bianco?

I’m so much less confident than I already was

It’s bad enough we’re carrying Mihocek who’s done nothing for a month, but carrying two players who won’t contribute?

AFL 360 showed a package of many of our stuff ups into forward 50 against Geelong and poor old Checkers was the culprit in each passage. Looked like he could barely get his legs off the ground when kicking. Hope he bounces back this week - he deserves his place but I do wonder if we'd be better off with Henry/Freddy at the moment.

I hope Bianco is on the wing and not playing back to allow Maynard into the middle. Bruzzy's marking has become a real highlight across half back (in addition to everything else)

I'd reconsider my attendance if this is true. I would suspect self sabotage .Nobody can explain what Bianco brings to our side other than he is not a Brown and changing the ruck combination that brought us to this point would reek of panic and lashings of insanity.
It’s Bianco vision that’s impressive as pointed out in the Adel game by David King. In that game his ability to find players on offensive runs, by hand a foot was outstanding. Some passages of play v Melb and Ess were outstanding.
And Buckley also commented Bianco had Pendlesque qualities.
He’s not as slow as people think and this year in particular has shown an appetite for the contest.

Looking forward to seeing this vision and ability to find others (in our jumper) by hand and foot.
Why do posters universally believe he is slow if he isn't? How does such a misconception (if that is what it is) arise?

As a classical scholar, I beg to differ. The Daicos name is Macedonian, not Roman. Therefore ought to be Daicoi!

In Ancient Greek the nominative plural suffix for masculine nouns ending in -os would be -oi, so I'd suggest "Daicoi" is the correct plural of "Daicos"
I said creative, not correct 😉

Bianco was the most likely replacement for Adams, at least he's had some decent exposure through the year.
Has shown an ability to use the ball and to run out games. Both will be important in a final.

I think I prefer our last picked player in a less pivotal role like half back / wing that Bianco will play rather than Carmichael coming into the centre square. There may also be a bit more confidence in Bianco given his extra time in the system.
