I dont care who plays but can we give Jones a bit of a run in the middle. Even McHenry?
From what i saw the same old lineups are clearly not working.

Absolutely, once we've been smashed in there for three quarters for the 4th time this year, we'll have another look at a different group. See if they can continue their promising signs that they've showed each last quarter for the previous 3 games.

I actually just want to see Poholke through the middle as an inside mid as a priority. He's a strong body who understands his structures and is completely starved for opportunity. Sure he might not be as talented as other mids, but a lot of time desire trumps talent in elite sport. And right now we're not seeing much desire in our starting rotation.

Sure play guys like Jones and Ned as well, but as a straight swap for an underperforming mid. Poholke is the one who needs big minutes for me. He's earned a chance to get his block of games in the position he was drafted to play.
And we need to ask the question of Poholke, can he play at his level? kills it in SANFL. We need to know if he is worth keeping or is he another Grigg? Extended run in the guts is the only way we find out.

Got a feeling that Walker will go out this week. The 'big move' to shake things up with either McAsey forward or Himmelberg/Frampton in. Tough on Tex - who'd want to be a forward in our current line up? - but he might be the one to cop the bullet.

That's the thing for me. Tex might be seriously out of form but who would really know? The ball rarely makes it down there and the entries are so poor, someone of his style of forward (leading forward) has little to no chance.

Like he looks slow etc but that's been the case post knee reco really. He had one nice kick over the top play, missed a 1 on 1 from a Fog kick and had a shit kick inside 50 to no one. It's not enough but who from our forward line is standing up? The problem exists before it gets to these guys, otherwise it's the forward coach at fault for having these guys unable to contribute to the game.

Tex in the ruck is laughable too, was always going to be an issue when we lost Jenkins. Can't replace him whilst keeping Tex/Fog/Lynch in the team as well.
At least ROB shouldn't get monstered in the Ruck this week like he did by Jarrod Witts unless Stefan Martin comes up, surely he can handle Archie Smith and big Oscar who does more damage up forward? Might as well use Lachie Murphy as our ruck chop out for all the good Tex and Fogarty have been in that role, at least he'd be a chance of getting some ground ball.
I don't really know who is more at blame in our midfield out of ROB v our mids. I'm leaning towards our mids as you see strong midfield teams still do pretty damn well when their rucks are awful and ours hasn't been one of them. ROB somehow ended up with 37 hitouts (to Witts 22), even if they're nothing hitouts, it should be a 50/50. Don't think he's hitting them down the throat of the opposition either.

Think his tap work can certainly do with work but I think it still falls on our midfield.

Yep, I think he's the kind of player that would get huge confidence if you told him his spot is 100% safe for an 6 week block, its up to him if he holds his spot after that.

Re-assure him that he's not going to be on the yoyo and see if he can reward us for a little faith

And if not, it might just be the wake-up call that a Matt, or Brad Crouch needs.

Reckon we run Keays on Neale all game.
This is a great idea

Keays needs to find a niche role if he's going to succeed with us. Early days (with us) but it doesn't seem like he has the poise/skills to be a primo midfielder so he needs to bring something else.

He'll be highly motivated given that he's trying to hang onto an AFL career with us plus the Lions are the ones who dumped him

We don't have anyone suited to a midfield lockdown role so there's a vacancy

Out: Walker Lynch Atkins Murphy Kelly Keays McHenry
In: Mcadam Schoenberg Davis Hartigan Gallucci Mcpherson/Sholl Worrell/Gollant/Himmelberg

Brown Talia Doedee
Laird Hartigan Hamill
Sloane Smith Seedsman
Davis Fogarty McAdam
Gallucci McAsey Crocker/Stengle(when available)

ROB BCrouch Jones

MCrouch Schoenberg Sholl/McPherson Worrell/Gollant/Himmelberg

Strongly believe this is our best team moving forward for our future. We will get smashed at times but no worse than the current rabble. McHenry may come back in at some point but needs to do better. Butts may replace Hartigan at some point this year. Not sold on Crocker, As soon as Stengle is available he replaces Crocker. If Fogarty doesnt improve his output we may need to look at Himmelberg on the bench to help out.

They're virtually the same player. If you put Bow and Arrow Boy in our forward pocket I reckon he would struggle
Have you not watched our games Ned cant even get the ball let alone the number of possessions and run Duursma provides .
Ned for all his endeavour lacks skills and his small body is nowhere able to provide any defensive pressure or attack on the ball that did in junior levels.
Hell in 2 games Ned has had about 6 possessions total and generally no other impact and as another poster showed in a game post he has been given reasonable time in middle.

Ned is a Crow now and we can only hope developer into a AFL player but currently well off and even further off the value of draft pick given and not even in Duursma shadow now or ever.
If Nicks wants to persevere with Ned then good on him but to keep building him up as elite against a strongly build running mid Fwd who has starred from 1 st game is not logical.

bicks said ROB had more hit outs to advantage. Doesn’t account for clean grabs and kick forward, but straight hit out stats are as meaningless a stat as the kicking efficiency of defenders at our club. Not that I thought ROB won the battle, I was surprised to hear this. Just shows how shit out mids are going if they can’t win their share of hit outs to contest.

I think we shouldn't take anything away from Jared Witts as well. He's quietly become one of the toughest ruck battles in the comp in the last year or so.

I don't have any stats to back that up, but just through the eye test I don't remember him losing too many of ruck duels he's been in since he became a Sun.

Keays isn't a footballers you know what. Should never have traded for him. Not AFL standard. We should be pumping games into Schoenberg. Don't care that he is not ready. He will be the quicker he learns by playing games.

My spider senses are starting to think Nicks was a bad appointment. Especially when talk is about getting him some help in coaching. Why does this always happen to Adelaide.
Exactly he comes across too nice for a start. He appears have a negative mindset in his game plan but he needs to concentrate on all players enjoying their footy again. When the enjoyment back the intensity and intent will come back in some way.
