IN: Black, Lisle, Maguire.
OUT: McKeever, Martin, McGrath
Same for me.

Polks will be close, but he really needs to build confidence in the reserves before be returns.

Who would polks push out?

I think Yeo back in for Harwood as well which I know is a big call, but yeo does display some magic. Harwood was thumped terribly tonight a showed nothing other than effort which is expected of any player

So many players were poor today it is hard to know where to start.

Black is a definite in. We must beat Melbourne or our season could fall in a huge hole and we might soon find ourselves in a huge crisis.

Maguire was listed as 2-4 weeks away on the AFL website's injury list during the week - although that doesn't necessarilly mean anything (I don't know if there has been any word from the Club).

Hanley has to be in some doubt. He was limping noticeably at times during the game today. He also hit Lindsay Thomas in the stomach behind play - one of the rare occassions Thomas wasn't acting (and didn't receive a free kick) - he could get a week for that anyway.

For me their is no way Martin will play. His lack of intent really frustrated me. I would love to see what he got on his GPS. Lisle will be an automatic inclusion next week for me.

Just bring in another leading forward for Christ's sake who can actually play forward and kick multiple goals. Martin is next to useless forward and outside of Brown, who on earth is going to kick goals? It just has to be Ace or Lisle for me. I don't know why we would, but if McKeever is selected again, play him as the back up ruckman and leave Lisle or Ace as a stay at home forward.

The big name I would drop is Jack Redden. He needs to learn that his senior spot should not be taken for granted, and IMO, far too many are far too comfortable and Jack in particular needs a kick up the arse and appreciate that a senior spot will simply not be gifted to him. He is horribly out of form and needs a run in the two's.

The double standards that apply to team selection needs to finally go out the window.

So, next week:

I have Blacky and Stakes in the ressies for another week. Haven't heard how Maguire is doing.

Martin has to be out, but I'm petrified that the team've given him assurances of games to get him to move out-of-state. Either way, he doesn't deserve them - drop him. Lisle to replace (that fwd/ruck role), he's been tearing up the magoos..

McKeever isn't at 1st grade yet. Still needs the year in the magoos to develop. Hasn't had the oval ball for long enough.

Big names to be dropped in my opinion are McGrath and Adcock. McGrath may be injured, but regardless, i haven't seen anything from him or Adcock this year to make me think they deserve a spot.

Out: Redden, Martin, McGrath, Golby, Zorko
In: Banfield, Karnezis, lisle, black, goose
Why Zorko and Golby?

Thought Golby was better then recent weeks.

Redden surely wont be suspended........

I would want to see Black come in, as well as Lisle, Karnezis and Cornelious.

Having a seat for me would be McGrath, Martin, Hanley and McKeever

I agree with most of what you've said except this bolded section.

I think a lot has been asked of McKeever, a lot. He trained forward all preseason, but gets bought in on his first game to flip around from forward to back and then mainly plays defender this week.

This is the drawback of being 'versatile' but I don't think he was that good at defence in the first place, so considering him versatile is a long bow to draw.

What we did see was a golden moment when he was up on the f50 arc and he put his arms out for that unco kick of his.. and completely faked out a much more experienced defender, then lined up and obliterated the ball through the big sticks off a step, which is more than what our experienced forwards were doing. I can't help but think that if he's given some time in the forward line at senior level to develop and adapt to stronger defenders and pace of the game that he will flourish.

But due to the Irish factor I don't think you can chop and change his position constantly and expect good results.

The problem is of course... with no Goose we need another tall down back, which is why McKeever was down there, and on top of that Hanley was resting at full forward for a while just after his knee/quad was aggravated in the 2nd quarter. So we had issues all over the place that required some heavy restructuring. I didn't mind seeing Golby at the centre bounce though.

So for me... it's this..

Out: McGrath(inj), Adcock(wake up call), Martin(poor)
In: Polky(sub), Karnesis, Lise/Ace (depending on if McKeever is forward to offer relief ruck)

Possibilities: Hanley (knee) for Crisp/Yeo (I would think a more likely sort IMO)

Out: Our stupid game plan where players handball at all costs when a direct kick would have been a far better option.

In: Common sense selection and direct football.

People have mentioned Redden being suspended, which, from where I was sitting looks likely. Hanley may also be in strife for a behind the play incident that may or may not have appeared on the TV. In the passage that saw Paparone have the ball taken from him when lining up for a shot, Hanley appeared to make high contact with a Nth Melbourne player after the ball had headed into their forward line. The North player stayed down for a while and when he got up he wasn't that happy.

yeh i think redden will get a week,

Harwood, I feel he had a ordinary game last night, However, I feel with ash more then likely missing injured/ omitted he should get another run,
Crisp must be close, he went to melbourne, he has been emg a number of times now

Why Zorko and Golby?

Thought Golby was better then recent weeks.

Because to clear house you really need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. ;)

In: Black, Karnezis, Polkinghorne
Out: McGrath (inj), Redden (suspended), Harwood (omit)

Wouldn't shock me if Vossy made some dramatic changes this week though after a performance like that.

That hasn't been Vossy's move in the past, just excuses, he seems to tolerate a level of mediocrity from some players and none from others. We have often had the wrong players dropped for poor prerformance in the past, who have been more scape goats than any thing else, while often the main culprits remain in the team continuing their under performing ways.

In: Black, Karnezis, Polkinghorne, Banfield, Voss*
Out: McGrath (inj), Redden (suspended), Harwood (omit), Zorko (omit), Harvey*

*won't happen but lose this week and it has too. Twice in 4 weeks we've rolled over and played dead, yes we kicked a few in the final quarter but the game was dead and the pressure had died off.

You mean out Voss in Harvey?

I'd like to see Clarke in over McKeever, thought he showed something in the preseason, even if he is still a bit young and undersized as yet.

Last nights display was pathetic. Two games in Melbourne for 2 less than average displays. Here are my thoughts:

POLKS - Definately leave him out. What type of a message would the coaching panel be sending if they bring him back...and what for? For 12 possessions in total of which 1 will be effective. Forget him. Shouldn't ever be brought back into this side. Has no position, been in the system long enough and shown nothing...PISS OFF!!!

REDDEN - Go home Jack or play like the jumper means something to you. Definately should be dropped if not rubbed out. Gone backwards in his development IMO.

MARTIN - Good bye mate. Banished to the maggos. How would Lisle be feeling? Comes to the club and doesn't get a game until the last 5 last year. Martin comes after one solid season for the Dees in the ruck and gets a walk up start. No intensity and can't kick for goal and would it kill him to hold a mark?

GOLBY - This guy couldn't hit the side of a truck if he tried. How can a player with such terrible disposal efficiency get a game? New nickname is Butch.

MCKEEVER - Shows signs but Not Ready!!!

There are a raft of others but there isn't enough time. This team looks to have hit its development peak. If they want JB to retire at the end of the season then keep playing him with this lot! Excluding judgement on those who have played less than 10 games I think this list is in a lot of trouble!

I'm not fully convinced Black should play this week. The phrases coming out of his mouth after the Ressies on Sunday indicate he was sending the message to Voss that he doesn't think he's ready yet. He's also said it's the longest he's ever not played for in his entire career (including off season months obviously).

If the great man isn't convinced he's right I wouldn't be picking him. Right now I don't care who we're playing next week there is no point IMO risking one of our favourite sons. Give him another week in the 2s.**

** having said that I'm not sure I want him flying to Mackay to play off a 5 day break either :(

Redden will probably have a holiday for a week, so Black has to play. We need a leader in the midfield desperately and this might be the last year we can get away with using Black as that man.

We have to win next weekend. At this stage, with this opposition, anything less is unacceptable. If we lose we can kiss the season goodbye. I don't want any excuses, I just want to put a team on the park that will get the job done.

Out: Martin, Redden, McKeever
In: Lisle, Black, Karnezis

Ash can be the sub if he plays. Hope Hanley is okay. Those two are up in the air a bit.

I think we've got enough kids in the side now - time to bring in some relative experience for mine. At least blokes who have played more than 10 games (and Black, of course).
