As yet unsigned too, be an excellent get to play the McAdam role. Kai is a highlight reel when on song, extremely good overhead for a medium forward and agility off the charts. I've heard locally he might be gettable even though the Lions see him as their ready made Linc McCarthy replacement.
Guessing it'd cost us one of our 2nd rounders, but definitely like the looks of him.

Over the last 10 completed seasons, we've played Brisbane only 11 times, twice in 2015. We are in front 7-4 on that ledger, but the 4 losses were the last four. Only 4 of those 11 were at Adelaide Oval, but this is the third fixture in a row at that venue.

Last outing the Crows lost by 36 points, despite only one less scoring shot (well, two less if you don't count the only rushed behind for the game). Charlie kicked a quarter of Brisbane's 16 goals, Zac Bailey and Zorko the other multiples. The two Macs - Shane and Ned kicked 3 and 2 respectively of our 9 goals. Unless Ned is brought back in, Rachele and Tex will be the only Crow goal kickers from that last match! Berg and Strawny shared the ruck duties for us, beaten comprehensively by the Big O and Darcy Fort.

Only 13 Crows from that game (including Pedlar, the unused medi-sub) are likely to take the field. Only real notable outs from that game are Hinge and McAdam. We had 16 (that's right, 16) players with less than 50 games experience that day, Brisbane putting a whopping 903 extra games of experience (2304 to 1401) on the park. Last week we fielded 1677 games (760 behind the Dogs' 2447) and Brisbane put 2742 games up against 2174 from Gold Coast (+568 games). The obvious changes to our squad (+Tex 247, Doedee 80, TT 33; - Hinge 31, Gollant 11 and Berg 41; plus an extra game for the other 20) gets us some extra 300 games on last week. Brisbane unchanged would have 2765 against our 1977, still almost 800 game differential.

Will be a tough match, if it wasn't a home game I'd have zero expectation of a win.

Is it time to go with Tex, Thilthorp and Gollant with FOG given a rest?

Bring in Newchurch to stir things up in place of Hinge with Smith rolling back to take the Hinge spot. Berg for Thilthorp and Berry swapped with Sloane.

Worrell can come in for Scholl is we need more in defense

I did not like Rankine's body language on the weekend. Appeared to put in half hearted efforts at times and did not play a team orientated game. Time for Titch to have a quiet word with him. I contrasted our efforts with those of Collingwood They really work for each other and celebrate the fact they share the goals around much like our 2017 side. There have also been these selfish signs from Rachelle and Keays over the year. We must get better n this area.

I dont think i saw more than a handful of entries where we lowered our eyes to our forwards against the Bullies. I did not see much leading either. Need to do better than this when we put under the pump by the opposition. We revert to the old playbook when we cannot play the game on our terms.

Why also when there is a wind do we play from behind when we are kicking into the breeze.

Agree with you on the selfishness, I didn’t see it from Rankine but Rachelle needs a big kick up the bum. He always takes the shot even if others are in a better position. Keays is just goal hungry and if he sees the goals, won’t look out.

Last week we were terrible and the biggest disappointment of last week was our missed tackles, it looked like they had no energy. We need to come out aggressive this week and tackle to hurt the opposition, do that and we have a chance to win

Match ups on your forwards will be interesting.

Michalanney to Cameron
Doedee to Gunston
Butts to Hipwood
Murray to Daniher
Doedee should be able to do some damage zoning off on Gunston tbh.

I had Butts begged as the bigger kpd but maybe i’m wrong? I’d go bigger on Daniher. Taking some strong marks. Hipwood still hasn’t made it to the gym haha, can bust a pack but more of a runner.

Michalanney has looked very good from what i’ve seen. Charlie also seems to get obsessed with wrestling when he thinks he is stronger than his opponent which doesn’t always work out

I’m worried about their mids, I think they will kill us around the ball.
Ashcroft is a kid but is just so damn smart with what he does in contested situations.

Would show a lot of trust

Charlie gets isolated more often 1 out than any of their other forwards

Who's matched up on him in our recent games? I can't recall

I can't recall, but whoever it was it sure as hell didn't work. Charlie has played against us 4 times and kicked 12.10.

2022 - 4.1
2021 - 3.2
2020 - 2.2
2019 - 3.5

Gotta give Max first crack surely.

Rankine has been covering the most km's a game consistently this season for us and has very high game time, so his work rate is certainly not an issue. His ability to apply defensive pressure has been a highlight this season too. Players are allowed off days, which many of ours had on the weekend.

Got to get this game on the Crows terms early....Brisbane are a tough team when they get their tail up....a lot of their players, whilst I won't come out and straight up say it, seem to be happy front runners and angry losers.

This 100%. Especially the last bit. Footy 101.

Most of our key forwards do this. They love the 'kick it over us and I'll run on to it'. It's an easier mark than leading up and having the defender jump on you.
It's also a poor play most of the time and only works if your midfield is dominating and running free.

We always get smashed by teams with elite mids. Once they get on top it is a complete demolition. Think GWS, Bulldogs and now Brisbane.

Parnell shut Ginnivan down last year when Ginnivan was in form.

Tell him that his primary job is to shut Charlie down, create play secondary. Often I feel his role is more offensive than defensive.

Clearly match of the round

The only game this weekend that has two Top 8 teams playing each other

Will we cope with the massive amount of scrutiny and build up the game will get from all corners of the AFL media?

Changes most likely will be

Hinge out Dodee in
Gollant out Tex in
Hberg out Thilthorpe in.

I will be surprised if there are any more changes other than bringing in Tex/Doedee/Thilthorpe.

Even with Tex coming in I would still like to keep Gollant

Kudos for the time and energy you've put into those numbers. I mean it.

The problem with with winning and losing streaks is that they are broken.
It didn't matter that we'd won 7 in a row; we lost the next one and the three after that.
Before this year's Geelong game, we hadn't won @ Krapdinia Park since 2003 and lost that one, too. Was that result affected by the previous 20 years' losses?
Only to the extent that it's hard for anyone to win down there, but teams do, so I'd say no.
If we'd been good enough, strong enough, skillful enough, we'd have won.
Will be a tough match, if it wasn't a home game I'd have zero expectation of a win.
Having said the above, I think the best indicators of win/loss predictions have to do with current personnel and form and not the last 4 losses, although there have been good personnel and form reasons for those.
If we are good enough to beat Brisbane (who've been contenders for --- what? --- 3 years now) this week, we'd have to play exceptionally well, as vs. Carlton/Saints. Is that likely, plus they'd have to have an off day?
I'd say our chances are slim, if the dice of personnel/form/home @ AO + we're switched on + they're not, all roll our way.
Can we win it? Sure.
Is it a good chance? I'd say not. I'd love for us to win this week; I am ever-hopeful in spite of last week, the very-winnable loss to Collingwood and the trauma of the last 5 years.

I'm expecting us to get done and I'll be looking only for a better fight than we put up against the Bulldogs.

Mrs. Newchurch likes this post.
I do, too, my doubts about Gollant notwithstanding.
The changes might energise the side. Fog's been ineffective last couple games; (his knee) could need the refresh.

I don't think there will be that much scrutiny from the Vic media. They will be more focused on the Tigers v Port game now after Hardwick's announcement.
